So first things first, hello! From what I've had a nose at so far, great forum - thanks!
Bit of background info, spied a whole host of mushrooms in the same location about a year ago. Kept my eye on them for a few weeks, just out of general interest, you know. Noticed that all of a sudden, over night, they were all gone... But not just gone, lopped off, sabotaged! As though someone didn't want them there - other (perhaps less suspicious, though who am I to judge at this point!) species were left well alone. I should add here that they are located next to a path in a pretty public place, with plenty of gardeners working in the grounds who would probably recognise anything magical if they saw it, but not necessarily be open to experimentation... Or maybe they just know a better source!
Collected this on my way home from work late in the eve and it was dark, so no pic of the whole lot, but I will be taking one in the next few days to give a better idea of location/ habitat
Anyhow, I kept my eye out in the same location this year and they're back! Hooray! Identification time!
Naturally, I'm curious about any magical properties, but I'm also interested in general! Absolutely tons of weird and wacky looking species near to where I live and since I don't drive, lots of walking about and spotting gets done.
Habitat: Edge of a walkway/path surrounded by trees (but not a woodland), mulchy bark chipping stuff around the bases of the trees and edge of the path is where I found these guys. There are two main patches along the same path, the bigger patch being not underneath/next to the trees but more open, near some low shrubs and bushes in the same mulch. Prob about 30-40 across biggest patch of about two meters.
UK, Notts, East Midlands
Gills, stem and cap: Not quite up on the lingo here so please see attached photo. I will also upload some of the same from a few weeks ago, perhaps showing stages of growth.
Size: 65mm from tip to bottom of stem, 12mm diameter at widest part - bottom of top cone part
Spore print color: On it's way, but wanted to get this thing rolling!
Bruising: None apart from where I squished the stem, brown, but also collected in rain and bit soggy. Again, will go back for more and with something to gather a few up in.

I believe it is Psathyrella. Either way, it isn't active.

Thank you both. And cheers for such a speedy response. Size-wise I'm not sure bout first suggestion, but then afain there are def other visual similarities. Will be back with print and a crop pic soon. And any other finds.
Can I ask a forum related question? If I were to make this post a sort of on going, log-of-hunts type thing, would it be better on another board? There will prob be more id questions along the way.
Thanks again!

Looking again, that Psathyrella id fits pretty darn well - thanks!
Plus (first ever) print - weirdly enjoyable... Edit: uploading troubles - device, not site. Be right back with that.
Habitat pic will have to wait grim outside.
