but watching it once a week, i really doubt its going to effect someones mental health
basically your saying at larger doses it has an effect but in smaller doses it doesnt? that doesnt make any sense, it obviously does just not as noticeable
why doesnt it make any sense? it works that way with everything else
argueing with your wife for 6 hours a day for a week will have an effect on your mental state.
1 hour a week? not so much
same goes for drugs. staying up for a week doing meth wont be as bad as taking one dose a week

no you said 6 hours per day of watching it will effect your mental health. But you also said watching watching it just once a week won't effect it At all. if you smoke meth once a week its still bad for your health, just not as much as if you were going to everyday

I watch a lot of Liveleak for a long time, which is often a lot of (real) murders, people (really) getting killed in accidents, as well as stupid and uplifting videos. Basically raw reality. It's all real life videos, shot in the real world or from CCTV/dashcam footage. I've been watching stuff like this for as long as the internet has had it. Do I have a morbid fascination with death? Not really. But it's part of actual reality in the real world and to be completely sheltered from that is to be ignorant.
But I can tell you I certainly have gained a finer appreciation on the fragileness of human life and how important it is to remain situationally aware of your surroundings. Has this made me a cruel, merciless person? I don't think so. It's given me a broader perspective I think.
I don't really watch any TV and I only really watch shows or movies I'm REALLY interested in seeing and I go after them specifically. All my shit is documentaries, whatever movies I'm interested in, and real life footage/dashcam videos and shit like that.
Watch uplifting stuff? Sure. But to completely rid yourself of consuming any "negative" media (whatever that means) completely is just ignoring reality, IMO.
But yeah, stay away from terrible acting, bad plot lines and ridiculous indoctrination or mind manipulation techniques or complete fear-based programming. After all that's what the TV was developed for, as a 'mind programming' device. Don't believe me? Read the patents.
So what am I saying? I don't know. Just be selective. There is definitely a lot of garbage out there. Stay away from garbage. But I really don't think that only absorbing "happy" media is going to make you happier inside. Plus people who are just super happy ALL the time are living in lala land IMO. The human experience is a wide range of feelings and emotions across an entire spectrum. I've never seen walking dead so I can't really comment on that. But moderation in all the things. Too much of ANYTHING can be bad. I think nothing but uplifting crap disconnects you from being grounded. Nothing but negative crap obviously is also not good. Balance. Besides, 'positive' and 'negative' are just 3rd dimensional concepts, all is of the same origin. Two sides of the coin. Darkness is presented as a challenge to be overcome and transended. Which means facing it head on, not pretending it doesn't exist.

The aberrant nature of the human mind should always be treated on a subjective level. What one person might laugh away can deeply scar another due to many potential factors or for no apparent reason whatsoever.

I mean you can argue whether 6 hours a day of this or that is bad... but where does that really get you. You gotta be able to make up your own mind whether something is healthy or not.

Going by the post history, that might not be a bad thing for you, Moonshoe.
I'm pretty sensitive and somewhat impressionable when guard is down. That last episode had me tearing up. Same thing when Beth died. I'll attribute that to rich character development, the main reason I watch the series aside from zombie-action.

yah its possible glen is alive and it was all that scared dudes imagination, they zoomed in on his face too so after that point it could have been him thinking about the worst thats about to happen to them.
that being said, it is about time one of the group dies, glens character wasn't adding much to the show recently anyway, the romance between him and his wife has always seemed a bit try hard and unrealistic. His death opens up the possibility of either the ninja chick having a lesbian relationship, or ricks son taking over, both which would be far more satisfying.
anyways, the shows good for mental health. Being shown rainbows all your life gives you a false sense of the world, that is bad mental health because the first time something bad happens u arn't going to be prepared and you will crack much easier like an egg that got dropped.
