adding a fan to the pickle jar method
    #2244047 - 01/15/04 02:37 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

So my friend had been using the pickle jar method (large container of water with a fish tank heater and air stone) and just added a fan to help circulate the air (not provide fresh air). And in a matter of 10 hours the little guys made an about face and grew straight towards the fan. Some of them made a 90 degree turn!

Anyway I guess he wasn't providing enough fresh air, just a note to you out there using this method.

ok, but most PMP type fruiting chambers still require a good fanning. That would do the same thing, but better.

Air Exchange is a better idea than just helping your stale air swirl around more.

it's not stale air tho, There is a constant supply coming from the air pump/stone.

He did try adding an exhaust fan however that lowered the temp and humidity too much, so that got sealed over.

yeah an exaust fan usually lets out too much, too fast. It drops your Rh, and is basically a losing prop.

and yes there is stale air, cause although it's constantly incoming, there is still alot of bad air in there,it has nowhere to escape to....thus the entire point of fanning.
