So here is what's new in my cactus world:
Pics 1 and 2: I found this at the local nursery...Pedro? Or too soon to tell?
Pics 3 and 4: I found this guy (Ferocactus?) In the cactus garden at my school...harvested these awesome looking fruits, Gunna plant the seeds. Will hopefully keep up the reports on that front.
Pic 5: found this little opuntia in the street under someones balcony

1 and 2: It sure seems to be a Trichocereus of that type. Good call. 3 and 4: that's a Melocactus. You probably live in a warm area, otherwise they would die during the winter (they can't stand freezing). Bear this in mind. 5: that's a minute Opuntia microdasys, aka Bunny Ears cactus. You'll soon find the glochids (really tiny spines) it produces very annoying - avoid touching it at all costs! That soil it's in looks too fine for cacti. While that particular species is not fussy about the soil it grows on, it won't do for most cacti. You'll want an open, fast draining mix. Look around for recipes, there are plenty around here.

Thanks Soares. I'll look around for tips on the soil, I pretty much just tried my best to recreate the ground where the mother plant was growing.
Many a painful childhood experience have taught me proper respect for glochids. No matter how soft and fuzzy they may seem.
I also collected some Golden Barrel seeds today, looking forward to having a nice crop of seedlings....

O. microdasys was the first cactus I ever bought - an awful long time ago. Shame about the grotty container - does it actually have a drain hole? Why not invest a few pennies in a proper plant pot, to show it off to its best advantage?

Vid
Spacey, what's the deal with you not being able to watch embedded vids? We gotta get that fixed for you

I don't know dude! I've tried to fix it many times but it just don't wanna work. I do quote the message often to find the videos but it usually pulls up a whole list of different ones so I gotta search through them most of the time.

Do you use firefox by any chance? I know firefox got rid of flash support. These embedded videos require flash.

I use chrome, but I don't have choppy frame rate. I plan on dropping chrome for various reasons as soon as firefox supports ECMA 2015.

Honestly I'm not a computer kind of guy. I think I use flashplayer or something like that.
