Sesame seed as substrate

Do you guys think that sesame seeds could be an alternative to rye or wbs? They certainly trap in humidity well so I was wondering if anyone has maybe tried this or could offer some input. Not that I can't get rye or birdseed easily, just out of plain curiosity.

They're so small I doubt they would separate like regular grains after they've been colonized. A grain that doesn't shake well doesn't do too well in quart jars.

Whole Brown Rice is a good one to use. Only problem with WBR is that you need to pay a lot of attn to get the hydration right. But it preps really fast so it's not a big deal. Probably available all over the world. In the US, dollarstores and overstock markets are a good place to look. 66c/lbs. If you just need some grain, even buying it at regular markets isn't a big deal.
Everyone seems to love oats. Not sure on the availability
Wheat berries are another one.
Grass seed is yet another, though probably the most expensive and hardest to find.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

With my experience working with grains, seeds, beans and legumes, I would say sesame seeds wouldn't do so well as bulk spawn. Sesame seeds are very high in fatty oils which would slow down or even stall colonization completely. Besides, sesame seeds aren't cheap and would cost a small fortune just to build a couple of tubs with them. If you wanted to add them to a more ideal bulk grain, that would be fine but I wouldn't add anymore than 5-10% of the total grain used.

With the cost it would be cheaper to just use popcorn

And even cheaper than that to use something good.

6 squares agree, a cube is a cube.
Yeah, I didn't bother to say it, but I think sesame seeds wouldn't work well. I mean you can make tahini out of them they're so oily.
What you want is some kind of whole grain. Good luck.
Millet and Milo are two I didn't mention. The two components of bird seed that matter. Also popcorn works.
