ID Request
    #22436163 - 10/26/15 01:56 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hello!

I'm still looking for some IDs on 3 species of mushrooms, hopefully someone will find this request intriguing and help me out :nerd:

Species #1

Habitat: Growing from the mossy ground in a conifer forest (same habitat as cortinarius caperata)

Gills: Light golden brown, notched at the attachment to the stem.

Stem: Medium thickness, whitish/brown, with a change in hue about 1/2 way down the stalk- almost an alboviolaceus colour that continues to the base. (poor photo representation). Slightly slimy, soft, stringy.

Cap: Dark golden yellow, lightening slightly at the margin, convex.

Bruising: None observed

General location: PNW Canada

Species #2 - possibly an armillaria species? Not sure!

Habitat: Growing amongst armillaria tabescens on a fallen tree near the edge of a river. I think the tree was a maple, but not 100% certain.

Gills: Pale cream colour, attached to the stem

Stem: Very firm, medium-thick, pinkish/purplish brown, streaked, stringy, peeling, possibly from dry weather.

Cap: Cracked, grey/brown, slightly wooly, darkened centre

Bruising: None observed.

General location: PNW Canada

Note: picture #3 represents this species of mushroom growing amongst Armillaria Tabescens on the fallen tree.

Species #3

Habitat: Conifer forest, growing from mounds of moss in the ground - possibly on buried, rotting wood.

Gills: Wavy, irregular, slightly notched at the connection with the stem. Brown. Veil present when very young, disappearing with maturity.

Stem: Long, buried deep in mounds of step moss, and incredibly wavy! Slightly enlarged at the base, stringy texture.

Cap: light brown, convex, wavy margins with maturity.

Bruising: none observed.

General location: PNW Canada

I advise any noob looking to identify mushrooms to fill out the ID form and provide clear photographs. Knowledge is a privilege and deserves respect. Let's give due props to the experts!
