Hi! Inoculated my first BRF Jars with Golden Oyster LC on saturday 17. Oct. Saw some mycelium starting to grow away from the inoculation areas maybe 5-7 days later. Now it has really started growing, but the last days some growths that are much brighter(but still white) has started to show themselves around the inoculation points. Contams?

I'm trying to clone store oysters on grain, some directly, some using cardboard. Yours are going much quicker than mine. Those look good to me!

Sweet! Never tasted them actually. Need to learn some recipes
Another question: I want to use 1 of the three cakes for making a straw log( or simply a small plastic bag with straw). Can those be done indoors without a tent/terrarium? If so, how does one keep them humid?

You use a hand mister, and sure it can be done. Here is a few pictures of my golden oyster grows, all indoors without greenhouse, just a few daily hand mistings and lots of love

Beautiful Was thinking a bag approximately that size or somewhat smaller for one brf cake. Do you mist inside the holes you poke then?

So what is the RH in your house? In mine it's about 50%. I wouldn't think that would be high enough even with misting.

%50 is good, you should mist oysters even if the RH is in the optimal range. It gives them another method of absorbing water and leads to larger flushes. Most homes are 30-40% RH. If you're at 50% you probably get tons of sweat on your windows when its cold out. Swamp cooled homes are excellent for oysters, constant FAE and humidity.

There are days that the windows get a bit foggy. RH may be higher in my house because of my house plants. Sorry for side tracking this thread a bit.

My jars are getting close to full colonization. Will dunk and roll next weekend or after.
BTW. When using brf cake as spawn... Should I then also let the cake sit for one week(ish) after full colonization?
Could I even fruit the cake first, and then use it as spawn after there are no more flushes?

Guys... What is going on with these jars? Is this the cobweb mold or just the oyster trying to fruit? What ever it is has grown through 2cm of pure verm.
It is very white, so maybe not cobweb? And the jars smell DELICIOUS

My cakes are in the terrarium. They had begun to pin before I dunked and rolled them. Now there are these strange knot-like growths on them
Should I pluck them and wait for next flush or just continue to wait and see what happens with them?

No! Do not pluck them, that is the start of golden oysters, they will form out very soon. Looking good man. Remember that oysters needs LOTS of fresh air, so maybe not keep the lid tight on that thing.

and then finally..

Good luck keep us updated!

I would try leaving the lid off completely, as long as you can mist them two or three times a day.

First flush didn't give any fruits. Not surprising as the cakes had already started pinning when i dunk and rolled them...
Here is the second flush:

The fruits are so small that I am actually not sure if they are fruits or aborts.
Maybe verm + brf is a bad choice for golden oyster?
And btw. do you guys think I could break up the cakes when they are done flushing and use it to spawn a straw log?
