uk cyanescens find.
    #22435762 - 10/26/15 12:10 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

found a rather impressive cyan. Patch earlier today, in a man made public garden.
This is in mid England, by the way.
I'm assuming they've flushed a few times, as there were a few rotting clusters.

That's pretty much the area I'm located, closer to Leicester than Birmingham actually.
Would anyone like any free prints sending out? If you send me your address via pm I can second class them to you, that is if you're in the UK.
The patch was still in mid flush so I was planning on collecting some flatter, younger caps for prints in the next few days.
It's just a bit of a ball ache getting an nice, heavy print from the wavy capped fruits.

Nice pics by the way. Nice looking specimens

Already done  got a small tupperware full. Not too sure what to do with it now though. Ive not worked with woodlovers before, Can I spawn it straight to some beech chips? Should I let it recover for a week or so first?
Thankyou and,
Thanks for any help.

I'm by no means we'll experienced in the art of cultivation, but I did have some success for the first time this year with my own cyans.

It's best to spawn live myc on some thing like card board with wood lovers. Soak some corrugated card or egg boxes for a few hours in water and then simply add the stem butts of the mushrooms. Then once the myc has inoculated that transfer it to a mix of damp chips and saw dust. :awedance:

Buy a small bag of apple/alder/maple chips, then get some fine chips or sawdust. Soak it in water for a few hours and mix in your mycelium with the new chip/sawdust mix. Cover with hay or plant some grass seed over it

Nice freakin patch by the way. :awedance:

By mix....you mean actually getting the mycelium in tiny pieces and fluff it throughout the chips and saw dust? I have been wondering about this...

Do you scrape the myc off the cardboard?

When I mix mine I usually let it stay in clumps as much as possible. Then I sprinkle sawbust or small chips around the edges of clumps and add larger chips on top. I usually pull the two pieces of cardboard apart so the mycelium is exposed to new chips. Then make sure to cover very well before winter!!! I might even bring mine inside the garage so it doesn't freeze but hay, leaves, grass or planting flowers or weeds in it will help.

Also, instead of buying expensive chips from the store. Take a grocery bag to the nearest park with a woodchip pile and just boil them in a large pot for at least a couple hours. Immediately drain the water and let cool before adding to an outdoor patch. I'm actually doing this at this moment.

Try to grab some fresh chips. To ensure sterility.

Yeah I have multiple parks with huge piles of chips. Why boil them?
