How will you prepare for your death?
    #22435715 - 10/26/15 12:00 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Someday we will each be confronted by our own inevitable death. Either we will be diagnosed with a fatal illness, or something else will happen to let us know our end is near.

When this intense moment comes to you, how will you prepare for your death? How will you cope? What will you do with your last days? How will you find peace and acceptance? How will you cope with fear or depression?

Will you turn to religion and spirituality? Will you call your loved ones, hug them tight and tell them you love them?

Will you meditate, will you smoke DMT, will you dose opiates or benzos? How will you cope?

I am asking myself this question now. How can I become OK and at peace in myself with mortality- not just my own, but my wife's , my species' and my civilizations' mortality?

All of us choose to live in a comfortable state of ignoring the fact of our own death, and this is right and good in so far as it lets us go on with our lives.

But there is also a value in facing the truth- and preparing for the end, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually.

So how will you prepare? How can I? I am asking for serious suggestions , I need help with this.

So far I know I will

1. Call all my family and see all my friends
2. Meditate
3. Pray and Worship
4. Read sacred scriptures
5. Chant mantras
6. Do yoga
7. Hug, cuddle, massage, and make love to my wife, and tell her I love her
8. When I work up the inner peace, smoke some Dimitri
9. Attend Church, Dharma Centre and Temple as much and often as possible
10. Focus on connecting to my breath as my constant connection to the divine
11. Get some real MDMA and or ketamine and do some therapeutic introspective and interpersonal preperation
12. Perhaps take mushrooms and have a trip searching for acceptance

Please help me plan my own "farewell to life" process and my own preparation for my transition to the Bardo/whatever comes after death.

Thank you.

This picture expressess the state I hope to get to and how I hope to face this:

I don't imagine death will be the least bit pleasant for you because you are so consumed in your obsession with death and the end of the world.

Instead of living thinking about death, try living your life.

Holy crap Moonshoe you need to be more specific than this. I mean, death can come in so many ways. It might come by sudden cardiac death for me. If it did I couldnt even finish this sentence.

I wouldnt want to suffer greatly and dwindle away to zero, I think I would prefer going by my own means over, lets say, being consumed by cancer over 8 months.

If I had the time I'd get together with loved ones, close up my online matters, do a staggering lot of MXE and take matters into my own hands at the moment that I felt it would go too far.

I think I would prefer to die alone, surrounded by my spirit guides coaching me into death. I wouldn't want to burden my loved ones with watching me die, especially if its by my own hand.

I like the idea of at once switching from my current situation, strongly embracing life, to the inverse, strongly embracing death. I'd hate to desperately cling onto life and having it slip away from me with me kicking screaming , pissing and shitting not to die. I'd much rather gulp down the poison cup of Dutch legal euthanasia or rip my brain into a million pieces in a forest somewhere.

Maybe even literally Aokigahara. I feel the draw of the place as a good place to die when the time comes.

>>>When this intense moment comes to you, how will you prepare for your death?

I have an intense survival instinct. If for instance I was 125 feet below the sea scuba diving and realized I was about to die I would panic and try to reach the surface and air. But at the same time my heart would be full of gratitude to my creator for the gift of life, and for being able to die doing what I love.

Mix 5 grams of heroin up and hang the bag next to me. Then eat a couple xanax bars and have some beer while listening to some relaxing music. I'll do a little heroin while I sit there and inhale some incense and let the bars kick in.

After a while I would put the IV in that belongs to the 5g of H and close my eyes.

I think many of you folks miss the point of the OP. Its not about suicide. Its about coming to terms with the fact that you will die and how you'll react to that becoming immediatly inevitable.

Have courage. There's a saying I don't know where it comes from. A coward dies a thousand deaths but a brave man dies only once. Just make up your mind that if the time comes you'll face it like a man and not a mouse. And if you have a duty to carry out to your family or country that you will die trying. You can steel yourself to it.

By living a lot and having as many varied experiences in as many fields of study/travel/socialising/drug usage/food and drink as possible. Only then will I be truly ready to die. Wanting to kill myself seems to come from a different source and it's not happened in a while so I am learning to cope.

Death is a part of life, why be afraid of it? Afraid of pain perhaps, cancer can be a beast, some other things can be too. I could die right now and I would be ok with it. I think death would bring peace.

They say you become a spirit being after death, you live on the astral plane and can see everything that goes on. I have heard its nicer there than here. The only question I have is why come back?

So do the things you were planning to do one of these days but never got around to it. Take the trip, try the fun but crazy stuff you always wanted to do. Instead of just living today to make enough money to live tomorrow, do a few things.

I would like to have my funeral in  a large gothic candle lit castle. When my casket closes lightning will strike and it will pop back open. At this moment a pack of wolves will drag my body out of the casket into the nearby wolves, my corpse will be screaming in agony and i will never be seen again.

But i will be heard. You will hear my shriek everynight as you get on the verge of sleep, and right before you fall asleep my shriek will wake you up. You will never sleep again.

Imagine exploding head syndrome, but instead of loud booms you hear me screaming.

Thank you all for your input.

I have reflected on this and come up with my own strategy and am now going to focus on the spiritual path of yoga and meditation, especially using binaural beats for hours at a time and deep breathing and yoga.

I am going to focus on attaining inner peace and enlightenment, the only things I can think of that could help us attain tranquility in this world.

Also spending as much time as possible with my wife, loving her, cuddling her, making love to her, telling her I love her, and enjoying our time together.

This is the path I will walk.

Namaste.

If I have a say in it, which I intend on, it will go something like this:
I'll reach the point where my mind and or body become less functional than I consider sufficient. I will write a short note to my friends and family explaining that I am not depressed or angry, and that I love them all. I'll explain that I prefer to go out on my own terms, and spare nature the work of slowly beating me down into non-existence. I'll then eat as much morphine as I possibly can, and turn on a comedy.

This sounds stupid but just look to close friends, usually those that tend to be older or play contact sports. Quite often people have painkillers sitting around that they forgot about or simply don't like taking for whatever reason. Cop a few of them whenever possible for a fair price and sit on them for as long as you can.

Try to get oxymorphone or hydromorphone (conveniently the hardest to find amongst pharms) Those are your two best bets because they have the best potency for their weight and don't suck ass like fentanyl. Heroin would work too but its potency can be spotty, and in worst-case-scenarios or euthanasia you want to know exactly how strong your shit is.

Moon, we aren't allowed to mention sources here but go to the darknet and you will find anything you want. Heroin, fent, morphine, dilaudid, etc on and on. Plus anything else of course. You have to learn how to use tor, how to buy bitcoins, and its a good idea to learn pgp. None of those are hard, just download some software and play with it a little.

Not only that but prices are much lower than street prices and its quite safe. A letter lands in your mailbox, you know nothing about it. After a time you take it in and leave it by the door and if no one comes asking about it after a few days, you "dispose" of it as you see fit.

I think that's the way I would want to go if I had some painful and terminal incurable disease. I would probably get enough so that I could play with it for a few weeks or months, have a little nod or two, I know at first it gives a lot of nausea but later its supposed to be great. And since you are planning to exit anyway, no worries about long term addiction.

Why not get some vials of Ketamine and some syringes? 30mg IM doses make intense pain more negotiable by dissociating you from it and you can even do surgery on it.

How I will prepare for my death depends in large part on who among my loved ones is still with me at the time. It will depend mostly on whether I outlive my wife and whether we have living descendants. My chief concern in the situation of impending death would be spending quality time with my loved ones, enjoying the cycle of the seasons one last time, and keeping myself physically and mentally comfortable.

1. Grab a pack of cigarretes from the store.
2. Visit with all my loved ones for one final meeting.
3. Meditate/think on/energize myself for what will happen soon.
4. Smoke some cigs and drink coffee.
5. Walk into death like it was calling my name. No fear, no regret, just here and now.

6. Death.
7. Watch my life like a movie and be like, yup, I was a badass motherfucker.
8. Go Home.

I am not sure. I simply don't know. I am just preparing for death as fast as possible because it could happen at any moment even though it might not die for a hundred years.

I suspect there is a roughly 50% chance of a massive global catastrophe within the next 100 years, and a 25% chance of one within 25 years and a 10% chance of one within 10 years.

So I am preparing based on the idea that it's a flip or the coin if I will be able to live out my life in peace and abundance or if it will be a massive change to life as we know it and a colossal catastrophe.

Shop for: Incense, Toilet Paper

I'm reading a book on pure land zen, they have an
interesting way of prepping for death.  Makes me
wanna settle down in a monestary sometime later
down the road.

I know why The Buddha smiles. He was sitting meditating waiting for some state of higher consciousness to happen, then he suddenly realized that it was already happening. The reason why he is still smiling, even now, is because he completely forgot what he was waiting for to happen. Anyone who does drugs might be looking for the same thing - a better state of consciousness. There isn't one - they are all the same in the end - they are just you inside different drugs. I don't think you can ever get to a state of total nirvana unless you learn to be totally balanced and not worried about this or that extreme event. Especially if you have no control over these events. It sounds to me as if you are worried about a lot of extreme things that you have no control over.

Death is so overrated - I know, I died once. I was dead for over 5 minutes, then I received defibrillation and brought back to consciousness - without any brain damage at all (some would disagree ).

I've never had a more clear idea of who I was or why I was here than over the next few days after death - all the bullshit in my life was so easy to spot. How I had not seen it before was a mystery to me.

I would suggest to prepare for death is pointless - it's the other way round! Prepare for life - be honest and seek out the bullshit and compromise and remove it - follow your instincts. The first of these things I removed was the idea of the guru figure itself. After death I realized that nobody can help me - there are no gurus or hidden meanings in anything other than what your own fantasy can create. The ego is also a kind of guru figure - so stop thinking about what you need - you already have it, so trust yourself and get on with it with a Buddha smile.

Peace.

I am not concerned with death, I am only concerned with living my life.
Death happens when and how it does. You don't control it unless you take the coward's path. (or there are some few other exceptions..)
I am at peace with it whenever it does happen, tomorrow? So be it? When I'm 900 years old.. whatever.
It simply isn't something I'm concerned about at all. More interested in living in the now and making the most of it.
Death is just a natural part of the cycle that is life. I've died many times. But not really interested in rushing it.
You have forever to be in spirit form.. being a human is a special privilege of unique experience.

So to answer your question, you prepare for death by living.

I think he's either on about a fairytale poison chalice, or the small liquid shot of barbiturates that some euthanasia clinics give their patients.

In Dutch euthanasia practice if possible you get the choice between a doctor injecting you off the face of the earth, or a shot of 100ml 20% sugary flavored alcohol containing 9 grams of Nembutal sodium. You drink it and immediately the death train leaves the station, in seconds you feel anxiolytic effect building to sleep in about 3min, unrousable unconsciousness in 10min and death in approximately 20 minutes to an hour.

Thats what I mean with "the poison cup", its likely B adopted the same procedure.

Personally if I ever get to the point where I feel like absolute shit I will want to take a ridiculous amount of drugs that will get me high and make me Trip and then eventually just kill me... I want to take about an ounce of shrooms, 1,000ug of LSD, a lot of Peyote, 10 lines of Cocaine, 1g of MDMA, Crystal Meth, 4mg of Xanax, 150mg of Adderall, Hydrocodone, Lean, DXM, etc... I don't know how stupid that sounds but I would try to have all those drugs readily available by the time I'm ready to die.

not trying to be an ass about it, serious question

it just seems like all that constant worrying could be real hard to live with all the time. I worry sometimes, but it seems like you're worrying about everything and anything that could happen constantly

I doubt those drugs would all get you high. Especially etc. Pretty sure that shit will cancel out the 20 other he listed.

If someone took all that shit at once, (one I'm sure you would puke half of it out before it kicked in) i imagine all they would do is roll around in fecal matter moaning about various organ pain and regret not just hanging themselves, or any other form of suicide that looks sane compared to that cocktail.

But if you do this, you should be cremated and have your ashes mailed to me for smoking purposes.

Who knows, I might figure out how to reincarnate on all these Drugs because do to visuals and mind roaming... I'm kinda just using my imagination. I don't worry all the time, but I never stop prepping. For as long as I live I will continue to periodically invest
Time and money into improving and expanding my survival stock pile, training and supplies.

I am being very disciplined about systematically attaining inner peace through meditation, yoga and spirituality.

The combination of being extremely well prepared for whatever may come with extensive meditation and yoga allows me to find inner peace.

Occasionally catastrophe anxiety builds up and when that
Happens I usually make another stockpile purchase , this helps relive the anxiety by knowing I actually did something to prepare.

Although my current supply is amazing by most standards I still have a long way to go before it is "finished".

I don't know how long I might have to prepare so I work on it steadily. I have already been prepping for years and have gotten to a pretty awesome level of prep, but until I have an actual underground bunker it won't be finished and I easily have five years left before I am fully prepped but I have an awesome basic prep now.

I also need a stockpile of disssociatives, anxiolytics and painkillers for
The absolute worst case scenario.

I am working hard on attaining inner peace and these are my two parallel goals- to prepare for anything and to attain inner serenity so that I can be tranquil no matter what.

I think that I will get to live out my whole life in peace and happiness and never see a global catastrophe.

My life has been so blessed and I have faith that it will continue to be and I will die
Of old age in my wife's arms.

But I will never stop preparing for a catastrophe .

I have been using binaural beats extensively and it's been a really powerful "short cut" to inner peace
And enlightenment  . Also marital arts is both a survival skill and a way to attain inner
Peace so I am doing that too as well as yoga.

Now that I am prepped I no longer need to follow the news because
I am ready for anything so I am cutting out any news sources that can make
Me anxious.

I am also starting to go to church, Buddhist dharma centre and Hindu kirtan every week,
Beginning this weekend.

It might not be a bad idea. In an end of the world disaster scenerio (nuke war) broken bones, 3rd degree burns, and injuries would be common. Being able to treat your friends and family, set their bones, perform minor operations like removing schrapnel, or stitching them up could be life saving. And its better to have some pain killers if thats the case. Hospitals and pharmacies stock these things because they need them. If you can no longer rely on those outside services, it would be a good "prep" to have a supply yourself.

You know the anxiety -> buy product "ritual" sounds a bit OCD like.

You ever been tested?

If I know it's going to happen and I have time to prepare, I'll make it simple.

I would gather my family together around my big fluffy bed, covered in my grandmother's quilts. We'll say a prayer together and thank the Good Lord for this wonderful life he has given me.

I'll smoke a nice bowl of some Skunk#1/Norther Lights out of one of my father's pipes.

I'll take some hydrocodone. Lots of it.

I'll have an ice cold Coca-Cola from a can, with full pack of Sonoma Red 100's. Or, hell, since I'm dying, I might even spring for some Nat Shermans. But I'll still want my Sonoma's as well.

I'll turn on some old-time mountain songs. The Circle Will Be Unbroken, and Oh Death, respectively.

Then I'll meet my maker.

Exactly right.

These kind of medications will be worth a hundred times their weight in gold when shit
Hits the fan. If my wife is injured and in pain I want to be able to ease her pain.
If she is feeling terror I want to be able to help her find peace.

My desire to protect and provide for  my wife and shelter her from what may come is the entire reason I prep the way I do.

And to who asked -
Yes I do have OCD. Never been tested but I for sure do.

A friend of mine died last month - lung cancer.  Made me very aware of my own mortality - he was younger than me.
