LC for Cyanescens
    #22431968 - 10/25/15 01:32 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

I don't have access to a pressure cooker as of right now but I am trying to create a liquid culture for psilocybe cyanescens so I can spread the love around town. I have honey and I was going to do a 4% mixture of honey and water. My question is how would I go about making this liquid culture since sterilization isn't key for outdoor species but maybe pasteurization is? I don't know. Also another question is how long would it take for the spores to germinate and how long is too long for letting it colonize the solution.

Thanks

You don't do that without a pc.
But you are in luck. Just bury your stem butts in new areas. Last thing you want to do is squirt sugary water all over the place.
You can put the stems in the blender with water and shred them. Then dump that water in new places

Okay well my plan was to originally just spray spore solution in hardwood chip piles but since then have been told that mycelium liquid culture will work better and since this liquid culture doesn't need to be sterile since it will be going outdoors within days of inoculating I already went ahead and made a honey water solution and scraped 30 plus prints into the solution. It has the purple tint to it that heavy spore solutions would and I am going to wait a few days and allow those spores to germinate. Can I get an opinion on whether or not this is going to work. I can assume the LC will be contaminated but that wont be an issue with an outdoor substrate correct?

I'm not doing this for a personal patch as I already grabbed mycelium from the monster patch I found and threw it on some egg cartons to populate that for spawn to eventually be put in woodchips.

Mycelium  liquid is what you want. Not a liquid culture. You do not want to spray sugary water all over the place.

I know your plans to make new patches. I have done the same in my area. I have successfully introduced or at least sped up introduction of a certain species in my area. But I have been doing it for 10+ years.

Take live healthy mycelium. Blend it up in a blender with water, spray that in places. It works, but it is no where near 100 percent.

90% of these bags are a wood loving species. Getting ready to plant once the rain comes.
