    #22431175 - 10/25/15 10:04 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

this is the only jar i haven't shaken yet, and the myc or suspected cobweb mood is a lighter shade white compared to the rest. the growth isn't picking up speed still growing at a slow rate.

I've got a jar doing the same thing :undecided:

Other jars I knocked up are much farther ahead and look really healthy. This one is super slow and has a bunch of disconnected white things that sorta look like mycelium is just starting to form but it doesn't show any rizomorphic character at all. Unfortunately for us both it doesn't look like mycelium, but I'm letting it ride for now just to be sure.

yea thats what kind of raised my concerns its not the thick fluffy white myc like my other jars and this one is slowest of them all to add to it. def wanted a little feedback but going to let it ride and give it a sniff test at the end for fink conclusion but wanted the good/bad news sooner than later haha

This untrusted cultivator says all of those are healthy.

@tether that's definitely a pin mold. See the black balls at the ends of the mycelium? They're spores. Put it under a scope to find out exactly what it is lol

That what myc looks like when your grains are too dry, result: it slows down growth and it looks whispy, and even when colonized it breaks apart easily.  I always have condensation inside my jars when I hydrate properly and PC.  I don't see any condensation in your jars.

 I think that is up for debate. I've seen dry grains. Those dont look bad at all. Actually quite healthy IMO.

I agree with you on the OP's pic those look decent but the other guy, cr1s1s, those don't look so hot, esp. on top...  I'm not saying it's bad but it's not what I'm used to seeing... and I'm not used to complete dryness in side the jar either

Hmm k, I'm gonna take back what I said, the lighting in cr1r1s's pic is weird and it looked like part of the grains were super weakly colonized, but it's just the lighting they aren't colonized...  nvm...  They do look good.

Word. I bet it'll pull through tho, assuming theres no bacteria waiting to strike . It looks like the myc is just getting formed to me

DEFINITELY cobweb mold.

Note the black tips and the super wispy nature of the white strands.

Heres some pics of cobweb (third section down): http://www.shroomery.org/5276/What-are-common-contaminants-of-the-mushroom-culture

I honestly sometimes just wish we'd get rid of the term cobweb and replace it with the species what it was originally shortened for. Which is dactylium. Sometimes its just confusing u know. That list in particular shows a whole bunch of different types of molds. Some could be passable as dactylium. Others are a pin mold. That one in particular is a pin mold. Which one? Who knows.

Rhizopus
Mucor
And fuck im sure you could find at least 5 others.

All have different spores but look black at the tips of the myc lol.

It's definitely mycelium. Now which type is it? The op's pic is good to go. The second guy looks good but keep an eye on it for the next few days. But I suspect both are good

In one of RR's post he says that monokaryotic myc can look like cobweb. How did you inoc that jar? Looks like myc to me any ways. Plus cobweb grows fast as fuck. One of my recent jars had cobweb in 30% in a day or two. Good luck!
