I've avoided court in the first place many times by doing things my way.
So, arrogance or not it has worked and I'm not one to believe in luck after one or two times.
Luck only works for some people.
The appearance of innocence works for some too. Even if you look retarded. You appear how you want to based on how you make yourself appear in all ways

if a cop asks me the weather i plead the fifth. If a cop asks me where to get a donut I plead the fifth. If the cop asks me anything related to ANYTHING i plead the fifth. I ask if I am being detained, and I plead the fifth.
Fuck talking to cops. I did it when I was younger to try and get out of shit, but now days I wouldn't piss on a cop if he was on fire. If he wants info from me he can get it in a court of law.
Busting out the cell phone is a great idea though. Record him, plead the fifth, and ask if you are being detained. Fuck the police. THey steal lives from people.

Make peace with the cop.
It will be a lot cheaper.
In the long run, he can kick your head in and get away with it.
But, you can not kick his head in and get away with it.

The accurate weather and location of doughnuts would self-incriminate you? :V
Hah, j/k I know what you mean. You don't have to answer their questions anyway and can lawyer up if you have/want to.
As much as I'd like to agree with the rest of your post, it is in my nature to be practical.

Majority of cops have ego trips. Challenge their authority and it's all over. I have found it best to take a polite yessir attitude with them, let them think they are in control. Especially with a speeding ticket. Never argue. Apologize and state you didn't realize it. More times than not you will get out of there without a ticket.

You can use that to your advantage, however.
For example, "...but I don't know that for sure. I'm not a police officer" when talking about state code you just spent x hours researching :V
