PF BRF TEK pressure cooking question.

If substrate jars are pressure cooked in the morning do they still have to be cooled overnight?
How long must the cooling process take?

No Probably around 6-9 hours. The inside is NOT any more warm than the outside.

the most accurate way is to use an infrared thermometer. if you don't wait until it cools down enough (i dont remember the exact temp, i usually wait til about 90 degrees), it'll kill the spores or mycelium

You touch the bottom of the jar to your eyeball...if it doesn't hurt, you're good...if it still feels warm to the touch then wait a little longer...better safe than sorry.

I'm DEAD SERIOUS

If the PC is cool to the touch on the outside, does that mean the jars on the inside are cool aswell and ready to be inoculated, because you don't want to open the PC until the jars have cooled down inside it right?

What? No! Where are you getting this?
Open the PC when pressure drops to 0, or whenever the hell you feel like it after that point. I take the jars out hot all the time to start a new PC cycle. Just gotta use an oven mitt or thick rubber gloves to grab them usually. I believe if you get them out while they're still hot it helps dry out the filters, whether that's dry verm or SFDs, either way, wet filters can fuck your shit, so letting them moisten up in a PC isn't a good idea, especially with PFtek.
To me it sounds like you're asking how to tell if a jar is room temperature, when you have the jar right in front of you and you can just touch it. At least admit that sounds silly as fuck, when you're looking at it from the simplest point of view.
That's the final answer to your question. When you can feel the jar and it isn't warmer than the air around it, you can use the jar. No set amount of hours.

Damn, I honestly thought that after the 90mins of pressure cooking at 15psi that you had to leave the jars inside the PC overnight to cool down... How wrong could I be.
So you have to take the jars out straight away (when the pressure drops to 0) then inoculate the jars when they cool down at room temperature, obviously you would need to use oven mits to take them out of the pressure cooker as the jars will be very hot. (That's a given) Damn, how wrong could I be, see, this is why I need to ask questions man, it's the basic shit that's so overlooked.

You don't HAVE to take them out right away, or I wouldn't have said "whenever the hell you want after that". Anytime between when the pressure drops to 0 and 8 hours later is fine. I just prefer sooner.
That's a flowhood in his sig.

Before you set me straight I was very confused, I was asking how the fuck are you suppose to tell when the jars are cool inside the PC, lol, that's what I was asking, it's a given when the jars, which once taken out of the PC after the pressure drops down to 0 or "whenever the hell you want after that" will be cooled down to room temperature. The whole "let it cool overnight" thing threw me way off track and confused me. Now I know, case closed

The jars stay hot for hours after the pressure drops. I think it's just better for them to cool down somewhere where they can dry out a little in the process. Assume the inside of the jar is 10 degrees hotter than the outside. That's a huge margin for error so should help you decide when enough is enough.

So when people say "let the jars cool overnight" they mean take the jars out of the PC and let sit on a shelf overnight then inoculate in the morning to ensure that the jars are at room temp?
