Beauty or Brains

Pick one. Beauty with intellectual curtailment, or brains with physical wretchedness.
I am limiting this to only two choices, for a large amount of reasons which I refuse to discuss.
Of course, you should justify your choice .

I went with Beauty, because I'm a shallow motherfucker
I'm not looking for brains until I get a bit older and "ready to settle down"

I'm damn impressed with the number of people saying beauty, so many times in real life you hear people say its all about the personality just because its the done thing(like saying airline food is nasty, i love it ) Maybe this has something to do with the anonymity of a message board?
Beauty and brains both play an integral part in attraction to a person, but IMO whats inside over rules what they look like. I have met quite a few girls that weren't amazingly pretty but once you start to know them you can see what immensely brilliant people they are and see them in a new light.

Beauty is what attracts me initially...but it cannot hold my attention very long unless there are brains to back it up.
Seriously, I can't stand being around stupid people

I want to chose brains but I know that wouldn't be completely honest considering not too long ago I left someone who was intellectually stimulating (but arrogant about it) for someone who was far more physically attractive. To be fair the beautiful one was intelligent, although for some reason we didn't talk a lot. I think we were too distracted by our physical attraction to be down to earth enough to converse. Of course it ended when we were both frustrated about lack of conversation and lack of ability to see each other often enough to resolve the problem. Oook, I still say it's mostly about the personality. An intelligent person isn't necessarily enjoyable to be around. I know people of average intelligence who are far more interesting and enjoyable to be around than those that are more intellectual. Of course utter morons are usually just annoying, it's not so much lack of knowledge but arrogant ignorance that I can't stand. I chose beauty on the poll because I had to be honest about my own recent history, although if personality was an option I would have chosen that above either of the others and still been honest to my own history.

We were given the choice between beauty and intellect. Here you've replaced the category of intellect with personality. At least that's how I read it in my initial response.

No I just didn't think the discussion had to be completely rigid. Surely it's not a case of being attracted to someone's mental capacity?

I'll choose celebacy over either of those choices. I can't stand air-headed girls no matter how hot they are. But at the same time, physical attractiveness is important to me. I think I have lower standards of physical beauty than most guys, but nevertheless, I do have standards.

A brain with the ability to create beauty. Beautiful things like technological advancements that could cure the disease of beatiful. Things which are not seen by the beatiful, which are only seen in the brain and only by the brain. The brain, beautiful.

I would choose intellect over beauty. I've never been attracted to someone just based on looks. Intelligence attracts me, first and foremost. I always fell in a little in love with my law school professors, no matter what they looked like.
There was this one professor who was so smart. Really brilliant. He was albino. I didn't care.

in pretty much all relationships people have, brains/personality always come into the equation, somewhere. Whereas beauty, not so much. I mean, I wouldn't not be someone's friend because they were ugly, uness they were SO ugly I couldn't stand the sight of them, but that's pretty far fetched. Overall, romantically, I'd probably pick brains. I don't imagine I could have a relationship survive solely on looks....unless they were like mute or something. Stupid talkative people are the worst.

niether one of those options is powerful enough by itself to get me into bed or a relationship.
so, yeah, like silversoul said "celebacy"
or, as I like to call it, "honesty"

Brains, of course.
The mind is abled to be sustained over longer periods of time than physical beauty is. This means that even if you are beautiful you won't be for long.

I pick beauty. Let's face it when you walk into a room and you see a hot girl what are you looking at? You aren't looking at her brain... you are looking at T & A or at her cute face. I know people say that looks don't matter but they do. Looks catch your eye. Beauty is an attention grabber. Beauty is what starts that initial conversation 90% of the time. Its not intellect. Who says "Wow, this person looks smart let me go talk to her..." Yeah, right. Let's be realistic not IDEALISTIC. Personally I prefer smart girls. There is no point in being with somone who can't balance a checkbook or teach my future children the basic concepts of life. HOWEVER... the poll said "brains with physical wretchedness." Though beauty lasts for an ephemeral moment I cannot wake up to "wretchedness" every morning. Plus at least my children will be beautiful. You can say that this is shallow but if you think it out it is just human nature.
