Do you want to be in a click with only cops? I'm no pig but know quite a few and shortly after becoming low lifes they all, and I mean ALL change for the worse. They get a hero complex and believe that
they are above everyone because of what they do. It's for some people but not most. They are in the same lines of firefighters (which is the area I am real familiar with), they just fucking have unbearable egos.
Besides all that shit, do you really want to put your life on the line for a bunch of political bullshit that isn't even real. Get shot in the face even
if you're a good cop because someone doesn't like you. Are you willing to throw it all away if your superiors tell you to do something you don't agree with?

I agree. There's nothing shameful about it, with the possible exception of ending up as a narco or in traffic enforcement BS. I have considered this career option as well, but I think it might be depressing to have to hide myself to the degree necessary and have to hang around a bunch of power tripping assholes. Maybe you can find a good niche of cops to hang with in a metro PD or sheriff, but if it's a small PD with nothing to do, there may not be enough diversity/real work.

My brother's a cop in Australia.
It's messy.
He had to hold a brain to stop it falling out of its skull while he "processed" a shotgun incident the other month.
Had a gun to his head once, thought it was over, developed a weird anxiety with tapping his finger after that, had to go see the psych.
They get to speeding accidents and they can't tell if it's one person in the cabin or two... the bodies are just mushed together.
Good luck, shit not be easy.

I had 3 cops in my family.
One was a very friendly guy who was loved and respected by everyone that knew him.
The other two were two of the most evil people I have ever met in my life. I won't go into all the bad shit I know they did, but I will say that if there is a hell both of them are most certainly in it.

My brother was a cop. Worked for a small rural town. Long shitty hours. Nights and weekends. Primarily dealt with scumbags on a daily basis. Low pay. Mediocre retirement plan. Lots of reports to fill out (on his time). Missed time with his family.
He and every other cop in the department turned in the chief of police for corruption, falsifying documents and recorded him talking about killing an alderman. The county prosecutor decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute. The chief fired my brother and 3 other officers. The rest were all reprimanded and/or demoted.
Poor career choice in this day and age.

I wanted to be a fireman when I was a small child. My grandfather took me down to the firehouse to talk to the cheif and ask him what I needed to do to be prepared to be a fireman.
The fire chief ask me if I had any firemen in the family and I told him that I did not. He told me that without having any firemen in the family that it would be very hard for me to get on as a fireman. He told me that I might as well forget about being a fireman in the small town we lived in and said that my only hope was to move to a big city and even then my chances would be small.
My grandpa and the fire chief were talking and he found out that I was related to a couple policeman and one of them was a prominent figure in the local sheriff's department.
The chief told me that since I was already juiced in with the police department I should become a cop.
Well my uncle, who's father was the chief detective or whatever was one of the meanest people I knew in my three short years of life. Whenever he would come over he would pinch my cheeks really hard and shake my face, usually until I cried, and then once I started crying(if my grandma was not home) he would call me a pansy and/or a little faggot and ask my if I was a homo and taunt me about being a girl or gay because only girls and queers cried according to him. The second time he left my face bruised up my grandmother was furious and she called his mother and I think that was the last time he put his hands on me.
Anyway I new I didn't want to be a police officer even at that young of an age and I'm sure it was at least partly because of him.
I really did want to be a fireman, however life had other plans for me. I've had an interesting ride. But I still want to be a fireman even tho its certainly not an option for me.
So what do you do when you can't be a fireman and you're really feelings the whole "fuck the police"?
Whatever you want I guess.

If you have to choose between paramedic and firefighter I would choose firefighter, reason being that the medical industry being for-profit has a tremendous incentive to push expensive, ineffective and addictive drugs over simple, cheap, effective remedies. You don't want to be a party to that industry any more than you want to be a part of the for profit prison industry. A fireman puts his life on the line in an honest effort to help someone, that's tough to beat.

It's a mixed bag with paramedics... Yes they help wounds at times, but a lot of the times they are taking people to hospitals, to said doctors, who prescribe said medicine, for profit (over concern for patient).

Soldiers
Paramedics and firefighters save lives, soldiers take them. While you could argue that it is noble to THINK you're risking your life for your country, in reality soldiers are nothing but pawns in the political agenda. I'd say they are very much on par with cops in terms of the type of people who are attracted to the job.

Paramedic=Good Guy

Paramedics perform a valuable function, and so do cops. In a perfect world they are both good guys, but in a corrupt system, they perpetuate corruption. Paramedics would be good guys if they didn't deliver patients into the hands of corrupt doctors. Cops are first responders too and I don't doubt they also save lives from time to time. It doesn't mean I would want my kid to be a cop or a paramedic. Firefighters can be heros all the time, not heros half the time and murderers the other half.

You mean creating problems for stupid people and benefiting from their induced plight financially raping them and worse they play games with our freedom. They introduce drugs and mop it up, through a larger system that enslaves not only the criminals but the cops themselves into their soldiers.

Hi
Ok so funny this post is Already up. I am a through and through true shroomerite. However I did grow up in a cop family and recently it was suggested I apply. I have many ties that would be sure to get me in. But do I want to? Kinda. But not as a cop I want to work cold cases or some shit. Fuck the drunken calls and bs duiis.
I'll be the most knowledgable cop looking at your mushies...thanks shroomery. Or how about hunting in uniform that would be fun.
Times are tough and the min wage jobs suck. Also I'm not real smart and I like guns so would be a good fit. I. Usually out driving around with a gun looking for drugs and hookers anyway I might as well get paid for it.

You can't just jump into cold cases though. You'll have to work your way up with drunks, DUIs, domestics, drugs, etc... Get a certain amount of collars before you'll be considered for homicide.

I think being an insider/spy would be cool, personally, I wouldn't arrest people for shit, just help people who need it.
We need more chill cops, what better way than to do it yourself.

Chill cops?
No such thing in a corrupt system. The system itself has to change, the duties of cops have to change, the mindset of the entire nation has to change. One good cop just loses his soul, or does paper work.

re. some comments ago - right but paramedics don't uphold laws that no sane decent person would ever have put into law. i did meet two who were total cunts though, and didn't give a shit that i was in genuine excruciating pain and all i needed was a painkiller that worked (zydol is the only type of painkiller that works on me for most things. see these med types know that and they still agree with people not being allowed to buy prescription meds - just because they can be abused. oh boo hoo someone might misuse them so just stop legit use of them because of that. total fucking cunts. in mexico or india or some other countries i could buy that otc so what the fuck is britains problem. anyway,)
anyone working for the evil establishment is the problem. the system is staffed by people - if nobody took those types of jobs then the evil system couldn't do fuck all. problem is also - when / if you require the cops, the reason is because the law would jail you or take away more of your freedom if you dealt with it yourself - you'd get charged with assault and the likes. so you're forced to involve them to cover your ass, and getting involved with them corrupts your life. so you have no fucking choices in this shithole police state. the police are supposed to be an emergency service like the ambulance and fire and coastguard and whatever else, but really what they do is enforce corrupt laws, and do evil shit like remove protesters so that scumbags can rape the planet with their capitalist site clearing. don't presume that if you worked in the system you can do much good - it depends on your boss and their boss and your partner and much else. if you do the right thing you could get charged or jailed or lose your job.

I agree with most of this but I wouldn't ever call the police. Ever. Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
The people who do these kinds of jobs are complete shit bags. Your point about the ones who try to do the right thing getting fucked for doing it, is exactly the reason why pigs are such scummy lowlifes. Police in the states started from runaway slave catching patrols and have been the fist of oppression ever since and I am sure it's the same over the pond except it's for the aristocracy/royals not slave owners. The people that take these jobs are sellouts to their fellow human beings and deserve nothing but contempt and hatred for going along with it. Fuck all law enforcement. Fuck the politicos and their bs laws too.

see i couldn't go being locked up. you're already locked up against your freewill being stuck in a body that can't do anything that any normal vehicle should, i'd rather die than be in a cage for any amount of time. i'm the reason guns are not legal in shittain - do you think with me armed any cunt would have been allowed to get away with fuck all. i don't care about dying in a hail of gunfire, but i would never want locked up. it's too difficult to successfully bash your brains in on a cell wall to kill yourself, but they can't do fuck all to you if you can decide either to go out gunning them down, or just shoot yourself so they can't catch you. if we had that choice here, you would see that britain would be a way different place. don't let the cunts stop you being armed over there.
ah yeah and just in case it matters, yes i have had a gun pointed at me unexpectedly, a shotty, and no i didn't even flinch. cause some people might read this and think, yeah but if you actually were involved with guns then.....no. no i am not some videogamer or someone who thinks guns sound like in the ones in the movies either.
