I wanted to be a fireman when I was a small child. My grandfather took me down to the firehouse to talk to the cheif and ask him what I needed to do to be prepared to be a fireman.

The fire chief ask me if I had any firemen in the family and I told him that I did not. He told me that without having any firemen in the family that it would be very hard for me to get on as a fireman. He told me that I might as well forget about being a fireman in the small town we lived in and said that my only hope was to move to a big city and even then my chances would be small.

My grandpa and the fire chief were talking and he found out that I was related to a couple policeman and one of them was a prominent figure in the local sheriff's department.

The chief told me that since I was already juiced in with the police department I should become a cop.

Well my uncle, who's father was the chief detective or whatever was one of the meanest people I knew in my three short years of life. Whenever he would come over he would pinch my cheeks really hard and shake my face, usually until I cried, and then once I started crying(if my grandma was not home) he would call me a pansy and/or a little faggot and ask my if I was a homo and taunt me about being a girl or gay because only girls and queers cried according to him.  The second time he left my face bruised up my grandmother was furious and she called his mother and I think that was the last time he put his hands on me.

Anyway I new I didn't want to be a police officer even at that young of an age and I'm sure it was at least partly because of him.

I really did want to be a fireman, however life had other plans for me. I've had an interesting ride. But I still want to be a fireman even tho its certainly not an option for me.

So what do you do when you can't be a fireman and you're really feelings the whole "fuck the police"?

Whatever you want I guess.

Did you feel like your job was noble?
Was it always crazy hours?
How much paper work is involved on average?
Do I wanna be a cop?

All cops are grade-A cunts and you're a scumbag for even considering that career.

If you have to choose between paramedic and firefighter I would choose firefighter, reason being that the medical industry being for-profit has a tremendous incentive to push expensive, ineffective and addictive drugs over simple, cheap, effective remedies.  You don't want to be a party to that industry any more than you want to be a part of the for profit prison industry.  A fireman puts his life on the line in an honest effort to help someone, that's tough to beat.

There's also the mistake of killing somebody slowly.

I think you're mistaking paramedics with doctors. Paramedics don't prescribe medication, they respond to emergencies and treat wounds. How could they possibly be for-profit?

It's a mixed bag with paramedics...  Yes they help wounds at times, but a lot of the times they are taking people to hospitals, to said doctors, who prescribe said medicine, for profit (over concern for patient).

Paramedics are first responders and help many people continue to live where as if they had not been there the person in question would have died.

Paramedic=Good Guy

Paramedics, firefighters and soldiers are more noble and admirable than cops.

Firefighters get tons of pussy. Just sayin.

Soldiers :burke:

Paramedics and firefighters save lives, soldiers take them. While you could argue that it is noble to THINK you're risking your life for your country, in reality soldiers are nothing but pawns in the political agenda. I'd say they are very much on par with cops in terms of the type of people who are attracted to the job.

I can't believe you would ask a drug website what its like to be a cop if you were actually serious, you had to know how people would answer this question.

Paramedics perform a valuable function, and so do cops.  In a perfect world they are both good guys, but in a corrupt system, they perpetuate corruption.  Paramedics would be good guys if they didn't deliver patients into the hands of corrupt doctors.  Cops are first responders too and I don't doubt they also save lives from time to time.  It doesn't mean I would want my kid to be a cop or a paramedic.  Firefighters can be heros all the time, not heros half the time and murderers the other half.
