What's it like being a cop? I'm considering it as a career option.

Is anyone here a cop LOL? How did/do you like it? Is the money good? Is the company good or do other cops annoy you? I always figured I could be a cop but I'd get sick of hanging out with cops... Did you feel like your job was noble? Was it always crazy hours? How much paper work is involved on average? Do I wanna be a cop?

Do you want to be in a click with only cops? I'm no pig but know quite a few and shortly after becoming low lifes they all, and I mean ALL change for the worse. They get a hero complex and believe that
they are above everyone because of what they do. It's for some people but not most. They are in the same lines of firefighters (which is the area I am real familiar with), they just fucking have unbearable egos.
Besides all that shit, do you really want to put your life on the line for a bunch of political bullshit that isn't even real. Get shot in the face even
if you're a good cop because someone doesn't like you. Are you willing to throw it all away if your superiors tell you to do something you don't agree with?

Don't do it man. Do you really wanna serve a system that's so backwards to the true needs of the human species?
Paramedic/Fireman = Hero Cop = Executive Agent of Babylon (Rastafarian definition)

Fuck police

you sound pretty angsty like a teenager
I'd much rather have a shroomerite cop bust me for weed and let me go than some redneck dickhead who'd have nothing but glee for busting you for weed or whatever
Not all cops are bad and we all know most people don't got the balls to fight crime

I agree. There's nothing shameful about it, with the possible exception of ending up as a narco or in traffic enforcement BS. I have considered this career option as well, but I think it might be depressing to have to hide myself to the degree necessary and have to hang around a bunch of power tripping assholes. Maybe you can find a good niche of cops to hang with in a metro PD or sheriff, but if it's a small PD with nothing to do, there may not be enough diversity/real work.

Define a bad cop.
You'd do just and snitch on your fellow cops that were robbing the public? Or you would rob the public?

My brother's a cop in Australia.
It's messy.
He had to hold a brain to stop it falling out of its skull while he "processed" a shotgun incident the other month.
Had a gun to his head once, thought it was over, developed a weird anxiety with tapping his finger after that, had to go see the psych.
They get to speeding accidents and they can't tell if it's one person in the cabin or two... the bodies are just mushed together.
Good luck, shit not be easy.

I wouldn't rob the public, unless they deserved it. I'd probably work as a counter-snitch for gangs for cash and not arrest anyone, while receiving a paycheck.

Not all cops are bad.
I had 3 cops in my family.
One was a very friendly guy who was loved and respected by everyone that knew him.
The other two were two of the most evil people I have ever met in my life. I won't go into all the bad shit I know they did, but I will say that if there is a hell both of them are most certainly in it.
Fuck being a cop, I would rather work at McDonalds

My brother was a cop. Worked for a small rural town. Long shitty hours. Nights and weekends. Primarily dealt with scumbags on a daily basis. Low pay. Mediocre retirement plan. Lots of reports to fill out (on his time). Missed time with his family.
He and every other cop in the department turned in the chief of police for corruption, falsifying documents and recorded him talking about killing an alderman. The county prosecutor decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute. The chief fired my brother and 3 other officers. The rest were all reprimanded and/or demoted.
Poor career choice in this day and age.
