IDrequest please, ONTARIO CANADA, would like to learn what i have found
    #22422540 - 10/23/15 11:26 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:
Found these guys in the local conservation walk, wooded area. They where growing on dead/knocked over stumps. Mossey area as well.

None of these mushrooms texture feel hard, all of them are yellowish-brown except the top right mushroom, which is more of a yellowish-orange tint.

ive done my research on what active shrooms grow in my province/area, and these guys kind of suit what ive learned EXCEPT for the top right bastard. though, id still like to know what it is.

if youre really interested in helping me learn what ive discovered you can please email me at gorm.bray1996@hotmail.com    THANKS!!

PS: this is my first hunt / pick

You found Galerina autumnalis, a toxic poisonous mushroom. Toss these they aren't active.

If your looking for actives don't look on stumps, instead look at wood chip beds. Sounds to me that the habitat your where looking was in the woods, if so you want to venture more into urban areas such as parks.

Crap I forgot to mention,in the picture with my hand is two different samples. Left is only a sample of four and the right is the whole bunch of them - both from a different area in the woods.. are they still both the same ?

There is no woodlovers that grow in Ontario that are common enough to find regularly.

You should be searching in grassy areas and areas where horses reside for panaelous cinctulus.

gymnopilus also grow in Ontario so your habitat choice right now is fine, just look into gymnopilus luteus and other species of gym that grow in Ontario.

Good luck, the gym season is almost over and cincts are all frost bitten now.

Don't look in woodchips, look on logs in the forest. Active Gymnopilus and Pluteus are common enough to be found regularly in my area of Ontario, just not on woodchips. Deep in da bush, throughout the summer and early fall.
