You seriously have to ask? lol Yeah man, they're good to go from what I see. Got spores dropping all over the place. Nice tub Only take the mature ones, leave the little guys to develop

No x its not time to harvest. You should wait until they are completely black and starting to rot. Then pull em and toss in the microwave until they catch fire
Looks like ya got yerself a new tub tho. Some hella aborts in there, ya might need to either up your substrate depth or pour some water in between the liner and sub, them babies look thirsty. Good to see your still in the game tho

I'm just busting yer balls, but seriously ya had a good pinset in there. If you could cut the number of aborts in half you will double your yields. Ya need to get them the water they crave.

I want to believe this...but there's just no way it could be THAT old, but man that sub looks disgusting it has to be at least considerably older than your typical tub, how many flushes is it actually? I've been curious about just letting something flush out until it ends, I feel like it would either mold first or run out of things to decompose?
And xmdka I really like the looks of those fruits, bright white stem and a nice golden brown cap, very appealing, great grows dude.

If a sub fruits hard enough in the first few flushes there is often so little nutrition and moisture left that it won't contam at all. I have had spent subs sitting for weeks neither contaming or having enough left to push out another fruit. Ideally you would get to this point no later than the third flush.

it was just a really spent substrate I think it was like 3rd or 4th flush. I generally like it when they push everything out super quick, like the first 2 flushes. That and outdoor spent sub grows are fun. Tbh I prefer outdoors more. Hopefully global warming will make this place better for it hahaha

Is there a way to ensure that your sub flushes out quickly? Or is it the standard, genetics x moisture content x dialing in conditions
I had a tub that pushed out fruits really slowly and sporadically, never really having much in the way of a "flush" so to speak at all, would having the sub be too wet cause this? I believe that was my problem, but I feel like even if it's too wet the mushrooms should still be able to use that water content, maybe that's why it flushed slower, needed to take more time to absorb it?

The best way to get the most in the early flushes is to use clone or isolate genetics, ensure all major pining triggers are being met, and conditions are ideal during fruiting. The clone genetics or isolate should be a heavy fruiter that puts out a decent pinset.
It's often said that the measure of a good flush is a dry oz per quart of spawn used. I consider that to be a starting point. Double that can be seen with good genetics and good fruiting conditions.

I've been having several contams (trich) lately, making me overly paranoid I guess Yeah, so I shake the greyshitterilligus mold jars and now it is like this

I'm also making a new master jar from some spore water, the old jar is dying it seems

Needs to get his field capacity right or something too. Killer pinset every time and then half abort. Those tubs are begging to be jammed full and push out everything in the first flush.

By growing in proper conditions you will minimize aborts formation.

Conditions are huge but, just as important is a proper water supply. A sub can only support so much given its own water reservoir. If you supply the water you get the yields.
At that point you will only get 1 or 2 flushes before the sub is spent however, your overall yield is better. 250% BE is possible in 2 flushes. I doubt anyone could see higher than 200% BE in 5 flushes.
My best clone can put out 12 dry oz first flush with 5-6 quarts spawn and a brick of coir. It could probably do even better with a more diverse sub. But to see that the field capacity must be perfect and sometimes I even pour water in the liner once the pinset is in. Feed it the water and the mushies grow up big and strong.

That jar appears to be contamed with ps. cubensis. It's against the law to grow them, better throw it away to be safe

That's normal for ms oyster grows. Better harvest before the spores hit. Oyster spores can be trouble in large amounts

Thanks, it is second flush actually I ate 40 grams fresh of these the other day, it's a rather large dose for me, at some point I ended up in the woods talking to the trees and stuff. Nothing I'm used to, it felt pretty spiritual 'n shit

Guys, I wanted to try out something new this time. I cased my tub with verm only, never done casings before. Will it work? I didn't wait for it to colonize and then case, I cased it straight when spawn. Will that ruin something?

Up the sub depth, good tip. DUH.... why haven't I thought of that already lol.. I've been struggling w this same issues latley. Nice pin sets, not so great flushes very similar to OPs here.
Hey PW, How would u go about pouring water in between the liner?
I've got some that r just now pinning forming hyphal knots. Would u wait until they form primordia to pour water between the liner? Wait until pins are inch tall then pour water between liner?
Would u pour little bits of water and keep doing so as it the mycelium sucks it up? or pour a good bit of water and let em sit in it somewhat submerged if u will..?
OP, I was gonna ask what strain lol oh well

Wait for the sub to shrink a bit, then pour in the water. Just a bit at a time. Half a cup or so. Usually i do it once the pinset is in and they are needing the extra water. Add a bit daily if needed.
X a verm casing is fine, kinda nasty for cleaning the fruits but it still works. It's fine to apply at spawning.

This one was cased with verm after spawning, then it took a good while to pin.
And the pin set seems lousy too

Bacteria probably, it looked yellowish and smelled a bit weird.
I still can't believe that using a casing made it worse than it was before

I agree higher fungi seems likely given the emergence of what looks like a sporocarp. As for what it is, beats the hell outta me. Looks like a tiny coral fungi.

Fuck blue moon syringes. They took yrs to colonize. When I threw em away, I found some brown things like those in the pics...
It scared the shit outta me, I held my breath bagged to whole tray and trashed it pronto.
Never again. I've never had anything except trich and cobweb a few times awhile back. Maybe some very also But nothing lately and nothing as scary as that.

That is sooo senseless if u asked me.
Haven't u heard of pathogens? Sure hope that fungi isn't pathogenic to humans. Lmao....
Growing unknown contams..... that's asking for trouble. U guys have fun w that. Lemme know how it pans out ten yrs from now lol
Although I'm not an advocate of pauls, Paul stamets book from the 80s, or was it 70s?.., the mushroom cultivator has many many pages on diff species of known common mushroom contams and it give a lot of info on the contam and Wether or not it is pathogenic to humans..
I wouldn't keep unknown contams around at all, might infect ur other crops and projects. Might also infect YOU. It might colonize ur body and start to cause u problems/symptoms...
I Def would never ever EVER DREAM of spawning known contaminated jars. That's just asking for TROUBLE to put it nicely.
If u asked me.
Then again, someone has to be ballsy enough to do it and gain info so the rest of us know not to keep that shit around, or we know that it's safe lol... I guess that someone may be u

I would cut out one of the fruits with the substrate, enough sub to fit into a quart sized pp5 and then I'd throw it in there with the lid turned slightly and let it continue growing.

I'm just paranoid. As hilarious as the idea of human cordyceps is, it is also terrifying as fuck. Just the thought of spores germinating inside me makes me uncomfortable. Oyster spores are bad for you right? Or is it just the sheer concentration of spores when growing in mass production that is unhealthy?

I only know because I noticed that people wear gas masks in oyster farms, that's pretty interesting. Can't imagine it's great to breathe that in all the time, spores are so sticky.

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is what happens if you take to many deep breaths of vermiculite particulates. Mycotoxicosis occurs when spore germinate in your lungs and over power your natural immune system.

I feel like Verm is neither volcanic nor silica based
a quick google search answered this question actually.

I think it's more fallout from volcanos. I was just bullshitting but verm is linked to cancer, and repeated inhalation of anything is bad. It's danger as a use of blown-in insulation has been an issue of concern among health officials.

I did some reading on it a while back so it's a little fuzzy but verm used to have a lot of asbestos in it, since it came from the same mines or something along those lines. Mesothelioma and pseudovalconosis or whatever are extremely similar so I'd say you weren't too far off with that.

Another tub It seems like better lighting and more water in the substrate makes the fruits a bit larger than before

A couple hours later
