That is sooo senseless if u asked me.
Haven't u heard of pathogens? Sure hope that fungi isn't pathogenic to humans. Lmao....
Growing unknown contams..... that's asking for trouble. U guys have fun w that. Lemme know how it pans out ten yrs from now lol
Although I'm not an advocate of pauls, Paul stamets book from the 80s, or was it 70s?.., the mushroom cultivator has many many pages on diff species of known common mushroom contams and it give a lot of info on the contam and Wether or not it is pathogenic to humans..
I wouldn't keep unknown contams around at all, might infect ur other crops and projects. Might also infect YOU. It might colonize ur body and start to cause u problems/symptoms...
I Def would never ever EVER DREAM of spawning known contaminated jars. That's just asking for TROUBLE to put it nicely.
If u asked me.
Then again, someone has to be ballsy enough to do it and gain info so the rest of us know not to keep that shit around, or we know that it's safe lol... I guess that someone may be u

I'm pretty sure it doesn't exist I was just making a joke ha my bad.
It's definitely cool whatever it is, I would keep it around...but somewhere else. Nowhere that I would have to worry that it's going to get me in my sleep for sure.
Oh wow they are coming up all over the sub? How awesome! I love it. Super curious what it is.

Oh man, that's a bummer.
I would cut out one of the fruits with the substrate, enough sub to fit into a quart sized pp5 and then I'd throw it in there with the lid turned slightly and let it continue growing.

I'm just paranoid. As hilarious as the idea of human cordyceps is, it is also terrifying as fuck. Just the thought of spores germinating inside me makes me uncomfortable. Oyster spores are bad for you right? Or is it just the sheer concentration of spores when growing in mass production that is unhealthy?

Many people develop an allergy or sensitivity to oyster spores over repeated exposure. Sensitivity is cumulative IIRC.

I only know because I noticed that people wear gas masks in oyster farms, that's pretty interesting. Can't imagine it's great to breathe that in all the time, spores are so sticky.

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is what happens if you take to many deep breaths of vermiculite particulates. Mycotoxicosis occurs when spore germinate in your lungs and over power your natural immune system.

So it is, but does it actually come from Verm?
I feel like Verm is neither volcanic nor silica based
a quick google search answered this question actually.

I think it's more fallout from volcanos. I was just bullshitting but verm is linked to cancer, and repeated inhalation of anything is bad. It's danger as a use of blown-in insulation has been an issue of concern among health officials.

I did some reading on it a while back so it's a little fuzzy but verm used to have a lot of asbestos in it, since it came from the same mines or something along those lines. Mesothelioma and pseudovalconosis or whatever are extremely similar so I'd say you weren't too far off with that.

Another tub It seems like better lighting and more water in the substrate makes the fruits a bit larger than before

A couple hours later
