Could be . Still the wrap job leaves something to be desired haha. It takes a little practice, hell get there. Should stretch the wrap, wrap it a lot tighter

Uh huh, kay. I guess anyone who doesn't understand what you're trying to say could be a troll. What does consolidation have to do with agar again? I can't tell since you deleted your post.

Sorry if my term wasn't "definitive" enough for you. An adult response would have been a MINOR correction. I see that we are lacking a few.
I believe that the poster deserves a response that helps him. Apparently that isn't so with you guys..
Oh but wait, just before that you said you weren't gonna feed me.... Just up there.... now I feel lied to.

It's press n seal if thats the same thing, but it seems to be working. its just what i had laying around
edit: it's my first attempt at growing so im just happy i was able to get 8 days on agar w/o contams. but it took about 6 days before any actual tomatose myc showed up. At first i though it was bacterial but when i put it under a light i could see little branch like growth and thought its was probably myc and let em go. 2 days ago they finally started getting cottony but around them theres still the transparent myc growth is this normal? It's very white i dont think it's contams and it's on MEA i got from a sponsor so the agar is good. Here are pictures to show you what i was talking about. Could it be lacking FAE due to the cling wrap or is this how normal cube myc. looks on agar just beginning germination? It's becoming tomatose (i probably spelled that wrong haha) now so its good but its working its way over the transparent myc very it seems.
^same plate just two days ago. It first showed up about 3-4 days after i inoced the plates. Thanks again for the responses everyone. I appreciate the knowledge and help.
Dont worry so much about fluffy or rhizo growth, it actually doesnt speak much to how good the culture is. A fluffy culture will go rhizo if you lower the nutrition content of the agar and vice versa. That being said just look for strong, healthy growth. Take from the leading edge, the farthest part of healthy growth from the center of the culture.
Germination plates usually look funky. Just try to take a piece that's clean from it. Id take a transfer from that right now, I usually do when the germination is about the size of a dime or so.. you wanna transfer from germination plates as soon as you can get a clean piece... before it grows over any mold or bacteria.
Its not FAE, usually you wrap the plate a bit tighter than that. You're doing fine man! Take a transfer from that plate, on the first plate it doesnt really matter where from just take something clean.

So i made some transfers on Halloween, i thought #5 was going to be the best but the #1 plate really took off. I kept all my plates aside from one of the initial that didn't germinate and one of the transfers i had to toss due to some weird satellite colonies. The first plate i inoced is growing extremely strong and the transfer from it looks good so far as well. I was wondering if i could use the myc from the initial plate to make a myc water slurry and do PF. My main concern was ensuring a clean growth vs isolating a strain b/c i got the print for a spore ring but i wanted to get some opinions before i use the myc from #1 to make a LI to inoc. my cakes.
Could i use the first plate i inoced to do a LI or should i wait for the new transfer to grow out to have more of an isolated culture? Thanks everyone
