Drying chambers.
    #22423911 - 10/23/15 05:31 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

What's up guys, I'm currently using a big ass desiccant chamber for the final cracker dry effect after fanning my shit for 24-48 hours. However, I was recently shown a picture of a badass drying chamber made of wood with a box fan at the bottom and it was impressive. Whatever I do needs to be large because I have a lot of shit to dry. I'm looking for some input, good ideas, photos of your own homemade drying chambers. I'm not interested in getting a dehydrator, and I know a lot of people like them but it's just not what I'm looking for. So please, post photos and throw some good ideas. I'm an open book. Thanks.

How about a giant plywood box, with a 100 Watt incandescent lamp on top and a large 18" fan blowing slowly on the bottom.

Double the drying power.

And have several metal screen mesh shelves on the inside.

Box could be a 3 ft cube. Should be enough room for mass amount of highly potent shrooms.

I like your idea. Maybe use like a window screen as the mesh for the shrooms to be on?

forget the lamp and wood structure. all you need is the fan, furnace filters, and bungie cords. heat is only added on food dehydrators because they lack a large enough fan to move sufficient air over the fruits.

All you need to do is strap a few $1 furnace filters to a box fan with some bungie cords. lay the fruits in the folds of the filters, stack as high as you need, and turn the fan on.

I've made many pounds of beef jerky with this, and dried shrooms, and yes it will get them 100% cracker dry.

fast forward to 11:50 for the scientific explanation

they let lots of air flow through them, and the ridges hold the fruits in place.

Ah I gotcha. When I run out of room in my dehydrator I put my mushrooms on a box fan with screen over it.

But my dehydrator blew so I bought a new one, and put all the trays together so now its really tall, cam fit about a half pound in it at a time

I haven't built it yet, but I'm planning on using a big cardboard box, building a rack to put inside, and having a small space heater blowing through it. Dry heat without getting too hot.

i like that idea.

Basically a home made dehydrator.

Clever.

You should make a thread with pics. I love that idea.

I'm probably going to make my own now. They seem IMO way better for the multi mono grower. They do seem cheap as balls

Cheap as dry, chapped ballz

All u need is:

Screen shelves
lots of plywood
Large fan
Space heater
Hardware and power tools

If u have as much shrooms as that pic u posted Mad, then a large dehydrated is definitely needed.

What does your RH have to be for this fan/furnace filter set-up to work?
