scratch that. Just read you need the agave pinas. These are way too small

just replant them, they should do fine unless you let them get really dry. without the heart you will get no love

You also need one of the correct species of agave, and you need to harvest the pina at the right time, and you need to cook it properly to convert the starches to fermentable sugars. Then you need to grind it prior to fermentation. Not an easy endeavor on a small scale.

I do have a stove you know. I was at a house earlier doing remodeling and they had blue agave in their front yard. Was all talking to them about it. I suppose if I don't have blue agave I'll aim for mezcal. Ither way, sounds like a fun project.

A stove won't work, but you could probably get away with a large PC like a 921 or preferably a 941 if you were shooting for tequila.
The blue agave that they use for landscaping in your region is not one of the correct species.

You want A.tequilana, A. angustifolia, or A. potatorum.
The first is not hardy to your zone. The second may be hardy to your zone. The latter is definitely hardy to your zone.
