Wondering if these are liberty caps
    #22422689 - 10/23/15 12:21 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Was wondering if anyone could ID these shrooms. I was thinking maybe they are liberty caps. I live in Newfoundland, Canada.

Habitat:
Found in the woods growing in moss/grass at the base of trees (mostly pine)
Gills:
white with a touch of brown

Stem:
short 2-4 inches, white and brown

Cap:
Diameter 3-7cm, light brown, slippery? texture, conical, concave, has a nipple

Don't eat those if you want to live.  You need a purple/brown spore print (and purple/brown gills).  Sometimes, like 10% of the time, the spores can be seen deposited on the stem about 1/3 of the way down.  Gill color is not as reliable.

Also, libs usually grow in grass, not moss.
