Who is your favorite spiritual teacher currently embodied on earth? 1

Mine would have to be Matt Kahn. I feel like he is one of the most cutting edge, most advanced spiritual teachers in the world right now. He actually reminds me in some ways of Jesus Christ, his teaching is that profound for me and when he speaks I get the feeling of excitement and astonishment to listen to him, like how the crowds gathered around Jesus in the gospels. His teachings is also filled with love, just like Jesus.
One of Matt's specialties is speaking about other spiritual teachings which have risen to popularity in recent decades and casting them in a completely new light.

I really enjoy Matt Kahn's teachings as well I agree that he seems to be the most "up to date" and overall "in the know" of spiritual teachers I've come across.

Mike Oldfield hehe
partially teasing. Burning Spear is wonderful; these are musicians...
Tara Brach, is incredibly wonderful... none were more transforming truly, in my life than her;
Simply her loving-kindness, totally devoted to Metta, healing, wisdom and peace,
And so forth-- yet, every moment is new... what I mean is-
Even her, eventually there was a time, when...
Well, then you just want to share the love,
and make friends. hehe
Moondog also. Namaste!
Ah, he passed away.
Infinite day

way to many teachers i couldn't choose one maybe reality as a whole but that would be only a temporary choice until death shows me a teacher beyond reality

+ 1'd by me, hehe.. ya, in my opinion, no teacher should want you to be reliant on them, but rather yourself.. and it is fairly normal and natural for students to surpass their teachers... that should be understood! hehe. as i believe.
merely one practitioner's view non-view
also, you reminded me of Whitman's lines about death-- rather beautiful i thought, one moment...
'Nothing can happen more beautiful than death.'
'Beautiful that war and all its deeds of carnage, must in time be utterly lost; That the hands of the sisters Death and Night incessantly softly wash again and ever again, this soiled world.'
'Come lovely and soothing death, Undulate round the world, serenely arriving, arriving, In the day, in the night, to all, to each, Sooner or later, delicate death.'
and. . . i feel i should add, it's certainly not an anti-life view of his.. !! simply that, it comes to all, and it's beautiful- in my view. .. a early view might be to be said--- it's part of life, and so it's normal etc...
as i learned at a young age... about 17... death & life are one... as soon as people realize this, well, it can be a beautiful thing---
simply to be at peace about it...
how i learned this was-- my friend at the time, a year younger, Sammy-- left this world from an overdose...
I went deeply into grief, all the way-- and at the very source of it, I suddenly realized - death and life were one- and my tears vanished... fairly instantly..
This was long before i experienced non-duality, and other beautiful things, divine consciousness, peace and bliss, a 6 hour trip, resulting in a view of the totality- etc... (very personal but ya, shared it a couple times; plus it's nothing exceptional... anyone and everyone can reach that stage, if they wish-- since it follows the laws of nature, enlightenment is a natural thing...
Anyway- as i say, it's not an anti-life view... rather quite the opposite.. i think, one point is- -
life and new life--- death = new life... the two are, as some describe, like two sides of one coin;
in some ancient poems, it's written - don't cling to the one, either. . . hehe. . . a little transcendental, there; but ya-- and it goes beyond words, certainly; yet we can still use words to share peace and joy - so that we can create the conditions for them -- these are very useful--
these are in themselves, the path of peace, peace work -- as it passes from one to another, etc.
but that's the basic thing... or, as i've shared since such an early age-- all is light; and the reason for which that's important. ..
it's not like - oh, ah, hum, and go on in the same old way... it's astounding! hehe. .. . but simply--
the reason it is important is-- can you ever damage a photon of light? and... simply consider and meditate upon that... (i did, and it is helpful) ...one cannot ever harm a photon of light.--- no matter what one may do...
trying to cut it, burn it, or drown it, nothing would work on that-- if one tried to drown it-- well, it hits the water, and is transformed..
so those are just two, of many... ways of understanding a very similar thing... as the poet wrote - 'Sorrow was never of use to anyone,' etc...
and as Mirra writes, 'once one is born into the Spirit, there is no confusion about that' (rather paraphrased)
so - i also share that, although all is light, there is still no reason to harm a fly... or mosquito, etc...
would also say--- Whitman, was a beautiful proponent of peace... he wrote very eloquently, moved many h'arts and minds... (in the right direction, actually saying that as a good thing in itself is quite silly!!!) the reason for that is- well, i often speak of it- but it isn't something good in itself, for quite a few number of reasons--
one is, we already have everything we need- ever, really- in the present moment, etc.
one of his lovely ones is - 'Peace is always beautiful.'
and-- he lived and worked as a medic during the civil war... and wrote some beautiful verses about it...
sometimes, during his experience then, such profoundness of the war- he wrote- how does the earth not regurgitate...? let me look it up- hold!
and the word land was mentioned 328 times.
ah, it is such a long book! I was unable to find the verse- someday I shall.. in any case, here is a lovely one, he wrote called 'All is Truth'
O me, man of slack faith so long, Standing aloof, denying portions so long, Only aware to-day of compact all-diffused truth, Discovering to-day there is no lie or form of lie, and can be none, but grows as inevitably upon itself as the truth does upon itself, Or as any law of the earth or any natural production of the earth does.
(This is curious and may not be realized immediately, but it must be realized, I feel in myself that I represent falsehoods equally with the rest, And that the universe does.)
Where has fail'd a perfect return indifferent of lies or the truth? Is it upon the ground, or in water or fire? or in the spirit of man? or in the meat and blood?
Meditating among liars and retreating sternly into myself, I see that there are really no liars or lies after all, And that nothing fails its perfect return, and that what are called lies are perfect returns, And that each thing exactly represents itself and what has preceded it, And that the truth includes all, and is compact just as much as space is compact, And that there is no flaw or vacuum in the amount of the truth—but that all is truth without exception; And henceforth I will go celebrate any thing I see or am, And sing and laugh and deny nothing.

Now that, I like. I'm finding this very much to be the truth in my life right now. My therapist suggested this poem in response to me telling her this:
When you get what you want in your struggle for self And the world makes you king for a day Just go to the mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife Whose judgment upon you must pass The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass.
He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest For he’s with you, clear to the end And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years And get pats on the back as you pass But your final reward will be heartache and tears If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

The guy I met at the bar the other day that broke his neck when he was 19. He was in a medically induced coma for months. His heart stopped during surgery and he had a near death experience. A complete out of body experience. He saw himself on the surgeons table and described the female doctor that rushed in to perform his CPR in detail after the fact. He is cross paralysed (feeling ability but no movement in the right half of his body; no feeling but full movement in the left half of his body). The most down to earth and positive guy I have ever met. Really blew me away!

From the age of about 20 when I moved from occult interests at the Kabbalistic Astral Triangle (Hod-Yesod-Netzach) to the spiritual seeking at the Ethical Triangle (Geburah-Tiphereth-Chesed), I began to search for 'the Guru.' I visited or had darshan (received teachings) from all kinds of swamis, yogis, murshids, teachers, and schools. Mostly, men, all of these men were decades older than me, often gray-haired, and I projected the Mana Personality onto all of them. Gradually, I began to hear about sexual corruption and less than holy behaviors from some (while I struggled terribly with celibacy in my 20s), accumulation of immense wealth in other cases, culled from sad hopeful acolytes who were giving away all of their worldly goods to cults (Moonies, Maharaji, Rajneesh, etc.), and even at one point the "God-intoxicated" Hare Krishnas were busted with a cache of assault rifles!
It took a few years of avid seeking before I took myself to a Christian seminary and focused my attention on the figure of Christ, who was most definitely not "currently embodied on earth," unless one is a dyed-in-the-wool Catholic who believes that the eucharistic host is actually the transubstantiated body of Christ. Well, it was a Methodist seminary, but I did undergo catechism and baptism in a Roman Catholic church before entering the school. This was a concession to NOT becoming a novitiate in a Catholic monastery, which is a particularly outrageous consideration for a 23 year old, heterosexual, acid-dropping, Jewish Deadhead!.
I could never really get into the cult of Jesus, the cult of personality. I was drawn to the Cosmic Christ, "being in Christ" as St. Paul called it, and theosis in Greek Orthodoxy wherein one becomes transformed into "the mind of Christ." Now, it's a funny thing about invisible realities, even if one has faith in their existence. How we describe insubstantial verities determines a great deal about how we live our lives, but I was intrigued by my seminary lessons in Gnostic religion, heretical though they were clearly described as being. I came to understand the Jesus of the Bible - especially those "I AM" statements in the Gospel of John to mean something radically and different than every confessing Christian I ever met. I understood the figure of Christ to be speaking about not just HIS nature as being a union of divine and human natures, eternal and temporal natures, or as a unique specie of being. Rather, I understood those "I AM" statements to mean that Christ is the archetype, prototype, template of every single human being that has ever been. What Jesus the Christ was saying about Himself, He was saying was the Reality for each and every one of us, only He Knew it and we do not - most of us that is.
I am a temporary wave on an Eternal Ocean of Consciousness. But sometimes, I can experience my Oceanic Nature and realize that although the individual wave that has come into being, has peaked and is already on the decline, my temporary form as an individual wave is made of the Very Ocean and is in no way separate from it in essence. The foam of my experience may differ from the foam of your experience, but the foam perishes with the form of the wave leaving only the Ocean whence I arose in the first place. As Jesus said "I and my Father are one," and indeed, the wave that I AM and the Ocean from whence I was born are one. That is why I can trust the face in the mirror. I have endeavored to experience my Oceanic Nature and Know it to be the Ultimate Identity of us all, the universal in the particular.

yea, there are more of them who understand now though
lots, lots more.
from the guy at the pulpit (sometimes), to the guy at the community (free) dinner table,
also - when one gets there; one shares it... and it passes from one to another.
coming to be much more common, as there are no limitations.
thank you very much for sharing, dear friend.
it is a wonderful story - all of us are writing together!

I've resonated quite deeply with Mooji before, often feeling his presence more than the words, although his words can be quite potent pointers. Really if you are sensitive just being around someone like that unseen things are happening... many Satsangs i left not remembering anything that had been discussed yet felt profoundly touched through being in that environment, where so many beings are dedicated to waking up.
As far as other teachers go i quite like Adyashanti, although i haven't actually felt much from his words myself they are very clear. I'm also fond of the world of non-duality teachers or neo-advaita as some label it in a negative tone. I don't listen to them much anymore but i still like what they're doing in the world, even if they aren't doers and there is no world
I currently find that reading back insights that i've written down to be the most powerful words i've come across from someone living, probably because they came from within so are tailor made for myself. I recommend others do the same... anytime you realize something nice, write it down and then occasionally refer back to it, embodying the import each time.

Very nice, Swarupa. I've heard very good things about Mooji as well, I find it wonderful to hear that he is in the world today. Chronic, among others, has written kindly of him -- and kind words from someone who is spiritually advanced -- are very good. hehe.
Peace and love,

you are welcome.

though i said 'ew' to one of your statements, wanted you to know i did see the love, peace and light in most of the rest of it.
love and peace, J.
i just hope that you understand marijuana is sacred and healing-- not a harmful substance;; although i don't really wish to debate it etc...
today 3 people just died from a drunk driver in my home town, and dozens injured... plowed through a crowd of people waiting for a football game.
alcohol, cars, etc... anyway;
very good to see you.

some music...
Rise, Anoushka Shankar sitar lovely
Bird's Lament, Moondog - really close to my favorite of all time, musical genius from out of this world.
Baba, Andy Palacio, & the Garifuna Collective ... also so very close to my favorite... so beyond!
Where I Like to Stand, Vashti Bunyan; faint, soft, beautiful.. melodic.. this was my favorite song for a while; I still love it, anyway, prefer a few others but to come back to it is very nice. The other day I was reading the story of Hamaguchi Gohei, as told by Koizumi Yakumo; it was close to the most beautiful thing i have ever read... i read it very slowly, partially, and then re-read it, also very slowly... such an incredibly transcendental, and beautiful story-teller, full of so much depth and beauty; anyway it reminded me of this song, so i listened again.
Blow Away, George Harrison; one of my favs of his... so very beautiful... the video is awesome, too, (silly and very beautiful) yet i prefer music without vids, mostly...
Magic Fly, Space - the '77 album alluded to previously. Such a wondrous year for music.
Innocent, Mike Oldfield & Anita Hegerland; this one is one of my all-time favs, for certain... i also sang it many times to the forest. Celtic songs are wonderful for that, as well as mantras.
Lady Writer, Dire Straits. . . Simply beyond. . so beautiful. This album filled me with so much love and bliss... definitely wonderful!
Mountain Rain, Archie Fisher... This is one of my favorite songs too.. it took me very many times, before i heard all the words!
Moonshine, Bert Jansch

ty or, yw, alternatively.
here is one, this one is almost my favorite, anywhere, anytime, of any poem!!
"Flower God, God of the Spring..." by Robert Louis Stevenson
Flower god, god of the spring, beautiful, bountiful, Cold-dyed shield in the sky, lover of versicles, Here I wander in April Cold, grey-headed; and still to my Heart, Spring comes with a bound, Spring the deliverer, Spring, song-leader in woods, chorally resonant; Spring, flower-planter in meadows, Child-conductor in willowy Fields deep dotted with bloom, daisies and crocuses: Here that child from his heart drinks of eternity: O child, happy are children! She still smiles on their innocence, She, dear mother in God, fostering violets, Fills earth full of her scents, voices and violins: Thus one cunning in music Wakes old chords in the memory: Thus fair earth in the Spring leads her performances. One more touch of the bow, smell of the virginal Green - one more, and my bosom Feels new life with an ecstasy.
