He has been on a downward spiral for years and its getting worse he's only 62, when he goes to the bathroom he can't find his table at a restaurant, hes wrecked his truck and then canceled his insurance the same day, he screams at bank tellers when they tell him he has no money, his train of thought is is is idk it's just really bad, and he gets irate one min then normal the next, it's like dealing with a child. We all feel it's a matter of time before he hurts someone by accident or himself. I know if he were to be put in jail he would piss someone off to the point that he gets stomped. We are tring to get power of attorney to get him checked out, the medicine he needs and put in a place that can watch over him, the problem is he is stubborn, mentally ill stubborn. He never i mean never accept the fact that he has problems.
What can we do?

I'm sorry to hear about your father. I don't think you should look to the community here for advice though (except maybe advice for your own personal conflicts). You and your family know your dad. You guys will know best what to do with him. Maybe talk to any friends your dad has or might have had. They may have some ideas.

well, we know whats best for him, it's just that he wont let us help him.
So i guess the question is how do we force my father to get help. Or how do we get him to get evaluated?

I hate to tell you this, but your dad is exhibiting some early symptoms of Alzheimer's. Do try to get power of attorney over him and get him the help he needs.

Definitely dementia, definitely Alzheimer, and a host of others.
Just got off the phone with my sister, were going to let him be, cause a scene, this time let them call the police and have him arrested, have them take him to the hospital to be evaluated, and let the doctors decide what to do with him. I don't know what else to do.

What they said. Alzheimer's is a sad disease and not one that is easy to cope with, esp. by other family members.
