How long until you give up on a spawn jar

In the past I have had multispore WBS jars that just refuse to show any growth at the same as all the identical jars that were inoculated at the same time. And then for some reason after 3 weeks they spring to life and then colonize to 100% and go on to be productive. They just seem to lay dormant while all the jars around them colonize at a normal rate.
If you recently inoculated several WBS jars and were incubating them at 78F-81F how long would you wait without seeing growth before scrapping them and starting over?
A week? 2 weeks? A month?

That's MS for ya!
What you can do tho, is make sure after injecting, not to shake your jars. You want the spores to stay close together.
In the future, try to get them started on agar first.

Yea I agree. All grain spawn should start with agar. Not only do you know you have germination before innoculations but you know you are working with a clean culture. Few spore syringes are clean enough to go to grain directly.
But to answer your question, if they haven't germinated in a few weeks then Id try again if yoi need the jars. If you dont need the jars then let them go a little longer. After a month Id give up on them.
I've had spores take up to 3 weeks to germinate on agar before
Seriously though, germinate your spores on agar, make transfers untill you have a nice clean healthy culture and inoculate with agar wedge.
If you inoculate agar it only used a half drop of solution, you can keep the same cultures alive and well and work with them for years. You might never use your whole spore syringe.
