I voted i would press the button 7,373 times, which means all the people of the world would die at my hands! And i would be rich!
Rich i tell ya! MUHAHAHAAHA!
But if everyone died, I would not need money. Plus, it would be very lonely and sad

game theory rocks. the world would probably do well to be thinned out a bit population wise- so it would probably be good for the planet to take out a couple billion people. obviously the world would suck if there were no more people to meet though- so to take out everyone as logical mentioned would be a very lonely place indeed- and think of all the professional services you could no longer obtain. society would fall back into some kind of primitive dark age. might just save the earth tho- if you think about it. although all those nuclear reactors with no one to push the right buttons or take measures?
anyway- it would have to be an alien conspiracy. say a race that wanted to take over the earth- but were too moral to kill? it would be a perfect weapon!
-------------------- "In the Beginning, all was static; the earth was neither fire nor solid. It was a drop of water on someoneโs kitchen table: an instant between the action of spilling and some future cleaning-up. Or, perhaps, the earth is a barnacle on a rock, formed between two waves; an event of no significance, then, created in a vacuum between the ebb and the flow of some unthinkable, unimaginable sea."-- TL

I would press it if I could choose groups of people that would be better off dead.
Im talking real scum of the earth ISIL , Other religious's fundamentalists extremist, Much of the US government and Russian government both current and former.
I would also kill all the fake dynasties in the mid east and the Turks "deep shadow government"
Also many of the "communist" in east asia . Those on top of course
I could come up with more but like OP said we dont get to choose who dies. I would press it tell all the enemies of the collective human race is destroyed .

No there isn't. But they place monetary value on life for insurance and other purposes.
This document shows that the US DOT used the value of $9.2 million last year as what they were willing to spend to prevent one fatality. They actually go pretty into it and have figures for the "value" of an injury as well.
Kinda fucked up since they're basically saying somebody isn't worth trying to save after that point.
But I still stand by that this is a rip-off. The DOT would pay more to not press that button.
