Can you grow mushrooms off spawn without substrate?

Hey shroomery members and staff, I have one question and one question only. Can you grow mushrooms off spawn bag alone? Using the monotub tek and since I don't have substrate to produce the humidity can I use a humidifier? I will make a monotub with the 6hole config and put a humidifier inside the tub and also my fully colonized bag. I don't have money to purchase coir and vermiculite so I want some mushrooms growing quick. My spawn bag cannot wait its been fully colonized since Monday I get paid next Wednesday and I'm spending that money on a carnival with friends. Let me know please, thanks

You can case it and fruit it in the bag... or if you can't get anything to case it with just leave it alone in the bag...it'll fruit eventually...idk really, I've only ever got fruits off of straight rye...and that was out of neglect.
Edit: maybe throw your bag in the fridge until you get the money for substrate...just a suggestion, because that really is a waste of spawn...and it will be anything but quick.

You might get 1 or 2 mushrooms growing straight of grains but it will be a waste of time. Coir and vermiculite doesnt cost that much. They really are an essential part of growing. You really want to case it with pasteurised coir/verm to get good results.
You can get the humidity you want by using a SGFC and no humidifier. It looks like you are $20-$30 away from being ready to grow mushrooms properly.

You don't need vermiculite. You can spawn to straight coir with no verm. That's what I do, 650g coir, 4qt boiling water. It's literally $3 tops from the pet store. You can also spawn to straight field capacity verm if you have a source that's cheaper for verm than coir.
Straight grains fruit quite poorly without a casing layer. A casing layer would require peat and/or coir and/or vermiculite and/or potting soil, so you'd be spending the same money or more for a shittier yield.
Spawning to straw is another option if you can get some, though it's touchier than coir.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

But stick with coir till you understand what u are doing. The rest take skill and precision and the ability to research you method. By the way all the answers are here on how to do it all, by yourself, cheaply and get results. With pleasure I can point you in the right direction if you want to learn.
Learning to make culture is the first thing id research because as soon as you have this you never need to buy another spore syringe. I will happily swap and spore print with you.

You can fruit off grains but I wouldn't do it in a mono tub. Above is an old tray, 3 qts spawn cased with peat. Its the only pic I have of straight grains. It *does* work but you will get way better results off a bulk substrate usually. This tray gave 3 oz.
I just broke up grains and cased, easy peasy

Cased being the important word. If its cased its not straight grains.

straight grains *will* fruit but probably not too well without a casing

IE Im having trouble that you say you don't have money for coir/verm
You can can leave out the verm. Bring back bottles, look under the couch, ask your mom... youll find 3.50-5 $ for a brick of coir at the pet store pretty fast if you can't you aren't trying. Dont let your tub suffer on account of that!
Im a seasoned junkie. You'd be surprised how many ways you can get 10$ together when you get creative.

I've done strait grain before, way back. I ran out of materials when doing a bunch of stuff.
It resembled a second or third flush. Large mushrooms, not many of them.
I got about one flush off them.
I wouldnt break it up to put it in a tub, thats just going to slow it down and risk contamination. After consolidation just fruit it.
You will get so much more if you at least case it.

it will be fine till next wed then buy a brick of coir as everyone stated above its cheap AF but my question is why would you not fruit it properly? making clean spawns the hard part fruiting is easy bro and when done properly its very rewarding....
