Did the substrate get wet?
    #2241618 - 01/14/04 02:44 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Ol' dirty bastard came to my house fresh out the pen and told me about his recent mycology experiments. He's a first time grower. He prepared 10 jars. 9 with pf tek method and 1 with birdseed (unground) with a dry vermiculite seal on the top.
During his first run, he steamed 5 jars. That's all he could steam because the steamer ran outta space. However, due to his inattentiveness towards the directions, he put about 3 to 4 inches of water in the boiling pot below the steaming chamber, instead of just 1. Well, he let it boil down and refilled it to 1 inch only when neccessary. He's worried that his 5 jars might have had their water contents altered, although when he removed the aluminum foil and looked at a sterilzed jars next to one of his unsterilized jars, they looked almost identical. He didn't notice any heavy water prescense in the sterilized jars, and the substrate looked nice and airy, just as it did when he jarred them. However, tiny tiny tiny miniscule beads of water were present on the inside of the glass....
Ol' durdy wonders whats to become of the first 5 jars....did he alter the water content severely to inhibit any mycellial growth?
Thank you all in advance

PS: if I dont find out an answer to this question, Ol' Dirty bastard said he was gonna cap my ass

Oh, I just called Ol' Dirty's house and his cousin Day-Day answered the phone and checked the jars. The verm seal on top is nice and dry....rock on brother!
