I've read that slime mold feed mainly on bacteria, so perhaps that would be considered a beneficial survivor of pasteurization. What I'm curious about now is if you pasteurized properly or not. It would be cool if slime mold could survive those temps (which seems unlikely at first blush, but you never know)

If you didn't pasteurize properly, its possible that the slime mold ate the rest of the bad bacteria/spores and saved your project

Either way I've been very interested in having companion organisms involved in mushroom cultivation. This seems like a good candidate. They do like similar (if not identical) environments after all

Cool. The spawn I used had heavy bacterial contamination. I would have tossed it but it was the only chance I had. Next time Big Yellow Fucker comes out I'll thank him for cleaning up.

man this just keeps getting cooler and cooler.

I suppose the question of proper pasteurization is ruled out due to your heavily contamed spawn. But really that just makes it more interesting.

I wish there was more you could tell me but it sounds like its up to my own experimenting for the time being :vibin:

god am I high right now. I've never taken so much LSD

It grew!! My paper towels were too wet but I got enough growth to keep it going. Sometimes the most simple cultivation methods work the best

I'll letchya guys know when I have dried sclerotia available :yesnod:

Here is a link to a journal post where I'm outlining my experiments with slime mold as a companion plant in indoor mushroom cultivation. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22495273

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I actually may be able to post some results rather soon, I just got some new wild samples of the slime yesterday that are growing rather quickly and also have bins that need to be cased soon :yesnod:
