I was told to get rid of mine asap with a pretty logical point:
The verm barrier prevents things that get into your jar (and yes mold spores will come down through the GE holes) from landing on nutritious wet substrate and growing.
But once something has a foothold underneath, it can grow up and sporulate.

Suspicious jars always get separated and put into a separate, noob mistake fruiting chamber at least mine do...

I totally agree, but on the flip side I want my myc to be strong. strong enough to battle and consume a contam, which I have personally witnessed and ate the fruits of said myc
I've never seen any myc that couldn't do that... Its more dependant on the mold at hand.. Aspergillus/penicillium on agar always get colonised for me..
Trich on the other hand is impossible to colonize
But really you should be aiming for sterile (no molds) over aggressive against molds. Myc never kills molds. It colonizes over them and leaves them in a dormant state..

They're so easy and cheap to make that I just get rid of them.

I am a bit confused here. Are you speaking of the chamber as your general growing area or are you specifically talking about a cake that has fully colonized cakes and has been placed in your shot gun fruiting chamber? If you are talking about a mason jar (cake or grains) on a shelf then leave it alone and let it sit until you know for sure that it is contaminated. It is in a sealed mason jar. If anything funky is going on, and it is in a mason jar the contam will not be able to spread anywhere else. If you are talking about a cake that has been removed from it's mason jar and is now in your fruiting chamber then keep a close eye on it. I say to keep a close eye on it because I personally have a tendency to freak out on anything and everything when I am watching experiments grow. If I see the slightest discoloration then I'm like, "Whoa WTF! Everything is going to hell!" But them I give it time and it turns out that it is nothing but a piece of grain that hasn't colonized as much as everything around it. Keep a close eye on it. Either way, as soon as you know for sure that it is contaminated get rid of it.

Using a warm oven seems like a horrible idea. Almost as bad as doing lab work in a bathroom
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Doesn't the change in the air temperature from the open oven and the ambient temperature of the room cause a bunch of air currents? I am just thinking about what causes air to flow. Fluctuations in air temperatures causes air movement. Contaminate spores are carried in moving air. That is why we use "Still Air" boxes right?
