Mushroom ID Please
    #22414215 - 10/21/15 03:34 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Found a nice little cluster of these on my morning walk. It was chilly out and when I picked them the stem bruised a little bit but not blue.
Got a nice spore print of them as I let it sit on tissue while I was at work.
These were found near some pine trees in western pennsylvania.
Having a difficult time IDing them so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I would start looking at the genus Pholiota!

This will probably surprise you, but I hate field guides. They are too slow and I am too impatient!

The above guide has stellar ratings. I used to own it but it didn't connect with me.

The above resources are very helpful and will lead to better identification keys over time. I suggest anyone who wants to improve their identification skills (and the skills of others) meet their acquaintance.
