Best Key's for Identifying Finds
    #22413223 - 10/21/15 10:56 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

I used to do a lot of hunting but took many years off and have forgotten much of what I've learned. I've been using some books and MycoKeys (http://www.mycokey.com/newMycoKeySite/MycoKeyIdentQuick.html) but am wondering if there is something better. MycoKeys would be amazing but it never seems to be very accurate. For instance some times I'll say no annulus and it'll show me results with an annulus.  I'm curious about the resources you use!

Shroomery is a good place to start. Brush up on all the actives, edibles and poisonous mushrooms in your area. Then go out and species hunt to test your skills and memory. Knowing habitats and companion plants/fungus helps as well.

I'm very familiar with the active and edible species in my area and can usually get the more obvious genus right . I'm looking for specific tools and taxonomy keys as well as feedback to see what other use.
