What has rap/hip-hop come to?

I watched this and can't help but me absolutely mind-blown at how absolutely stupid it is. I try my best to be mindful of others' taste and preferences. But this is the stupidest thing I have ever listened to in my life. And its not joking. It is serious. I actually felt slightly dumber after listening to it
"i got extentos... go play nintendo" "i got an ak on my face, so you no i don't shoot no pistols"
Does anyone feel the same way? I really thought that this whole "rap/hip-hop is dying" thing wasn't a huge deal. But this is about as bad as it gets

I love the constant influx of people who just heard of this guy for the firs time. Seriously use forum search, this dude gets posted ALL THE DAMN TIME lol. (Use search not in the UTFSE way because you're a noob, but to see how often it pops up).
It's not all bad. Most of the main stream stuff is. There are a few good artists out there who can actually make decent rap. NF and Tech n9ne are both good. NF makes some of the most respectable rap I've heard in a very long time. For the most part, he raps about what's in his heart and is not into the thuggy-douche scene. Just for that alone he gets a lot of points. His only detriment is he's a devout Christian, and tends to work God into a lot of his songs.
Mostly the problem with rap these days is it's the "career equivalent" of future football/basketball stars for those who aren't athletically inclined, or all the people who move to Hollywood just knowing they're going to be famous someday. They don't do it because they put emotion into their work, it's just another payday for them. So it really doesn't matter if all they produce is horseshit as long as they can sell the public on it being good, they're gonna make bank.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

But I think it is fair to say that a large proportion of people who create rap nowdays are garbage. Not like mediocre. I mean the average rapper is slightly better than stitches. Which is pretty fucking bad. I think the fact that there are more likes than dislikes on his video speaks to the fact of how bad things have really gone. i mean I think if this came out in the 90's, he would be ridiculed openly. And rightly so

I listen to better stuff. ITs just that this type of stuff is considered normal for this generation of music

Yes, the majority of rappers these days are garbage. Those people are just looking for a meal ticket. They don't give one shit about their music or the art. I can't begin to tell you how many people I've come across who are basically worthless in all aspects of life but think they're going to get rich off of their "music". Not all will make it, actually it's probably an extremely low percentage who do, but that is the problem. The majority are doing it for the payday, and a lot of them manage to catch a lucky break.
Our society is as much to blame as the "artists" though. None of the retards would have made it passed peddling their homemade CDs in parking lots if people weren't eating the shit up. They'd stay nobodies. The best artists make you think or contemplate their message. The general public does not like to think. The general population would rather be told what to think, than actually do it.

you know how some things can be so bad they're good?
well that doesn't apply to music, at all, but yet the general public seems to not mind taking music as a joke...like just about every other thing.

Gotta find better artists man. Its funny because I'm usually the only person that'll think somethings garbage out of all my friends. They get all bytthurt and tell me to go listen to Mozart if I wanna learn something from my music

I'm pretty sure this artist is a joke My friends showed me this a few years ago I believe.
I don't really understand where a lot of the hate for mainstream hip-hop comes from. Most of the shit they play on mainstream rap radio isn't my favorite, but it's more listenable than the stuff they play on pretty much any other radio station, especially country or fucking modern rock

Can't really argue with that. If it's a joke this guy has invested pretty much his whole life into it.
Forgot how fucking terrible this song was, my god.

It sounds like a parody of some artists I actually enjoy (especially Gucci Mane). I would rather just listen to the real deal.
For example, I think this song is amazing despite how ignorant and simplistic it might sound:
