Top of BRF cakes look dry

Hey everyone! My cakes are currently in the fruiting chamber and I noticed they look dry on top. The bottom looks good though. It's been like this since I birthed them and I was wondering how common this is or if it can be fixed at this point. Just a little background info, I birthed them two weeks ago. The first week I didn't keep up to well on my fanning/misting because of school/work. I dunk/rolled the cakes again a few days ago because the entire cake was pretty dry and hard. After dunking, it looks better. But the top still looks dry. The bottom looks pretty good though. I've attached a picture to show you guys what I'm talking about. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this and have a good day!

The bottom looks fuzzy, like it's either not getting enough fresh air exchange, or like something is trying to eat your mycelium. Flip it upside-down in the fruiting chamber and see if the "top", which is now on the bottom, gets fuzzy. If so, then the bottom of your cake can't breath. Also, I don't see any bruising, so I doubt that the top is dry.

What kind of FC do you have?
The fuzzy mycelium near the bottom shows a lack of FAE.
Also, what happened to that cake top? Looks like you dropped in on the ground maybe

Thanks for the replies. I'm using a Shotgun FC. Like I said, the first week or so I was only fanning/misting about 2-3 times a day so I'm sure that has something to do with it. When I work and go to school I'm out of the house for 13 hours at a time. I didn't drop them, the part missing on the top is because a small part never colonized even after a month. So it fell off during the first dunk. The picture doesn't show it but the tops of the cakes are slightly bruised. I'm using a dome light that I used for my snake with a 60wat, 5000k light bulb. I guess I'll try flipping them over and see how that goes.
