Beginner / no sitter / help

Hello
I will be taking magic mushroom truffles soon. (The kind that you find in Amsterdam - the mushmagic brand)
I have never taken any drug before, but I have had some spiritual experiences. I know how scary the alteration of perception can be...
Nobody I know shares the same interests as me, and I don't trust anyone to sit for me.
This is something I am going to do alone.
I want to know if anyone else began taking mushrooms alone and what advice/tips you have for someone like me.
Of course, I don't want to endanger myself, and I don't take this lightly at all.
What I hope to achieve with my first trip is to get a feel of the mushroom and see how it interacts with me.
If I feel like me and the mushroom work well together, then I hope to slowly increase my dose with each successive trip and see where it takes me.
Thank you for your guidance

Me personally, I've never had a "trip sitter" and I have tripped over 50 times on mushrooms, as well as LSD. That is not to say that I don't think a trip sitter isn't a good idea. In fact I think it is pretty wise but in my humble opinion I don't think it is an absolute necessity with tripping. I always trip by myself, I have only tripped a handful of times with others. My suggestion would be to start with a very low dose or even a threshold dose if you're feeling overly cautious. Remember, you can always increase the dosage at a later date but you can never take less once you've already ingested the mushrooms. Think along the lines of a doctor. Would a doctor of any kind prescribe a patient with no prior use, a high dose to start out with? No, absolutely not. Work your way up, get yourself familiar with the effects of the mushrooms (or truffles in your case). If you start feeling anxiety or negative emotions there are some things you can tell yourself such as:
"I trusted my sober self enough to ingest the mushrooms so everything is going to be okay."
"What am I so afraid of?" Once you start looking at all the beautiful colors and patterns you will know there is nothing to be afraid of.
"I took these mushrooms (or truffles) to trip and have a positive experience."
In a worse case scenario, a lifeline to hold on to would be, "no one has ever died from magic mushrooms." or "it will be over in time."
Also there are some activities you can do to take your mind off things if your trip starts getting a little out of hand. Try watching one of your favorite movies or TV shows. While you're watching, you will get so involved and wrapped up in the movie (interaction between the characters, background movements and dialogue, and so on) that you won't have any room in your head to have these negative emotions fully consume you. This next sentence is something I learned from Terence Mckenna: "If you start feeling anxious never put yourself in the fetal position. Stand up straight and tall and begin to sing a song that comforts you."
Don't use mushrooms or psychedelics out in public. Do not go out in public while high on psychedelics. Set and setting are pretty vital to having a positive experience. This means you should be in the right frame of mind and be in a very comfortable, familiar environment. Psychedelics often tend to amplify your current emotions or thoughts that you are feeling while sober.
All of this advice is coming from someone who has had very good trips, a few difficult trips, and one very horrible traumatic bad trip (that I still think about daily). Out of all my trips though I've had mostly very positive and worthwhile experiences. My one bad trip, and it was very bad... (I have a trip report in my profile about it-one at the end of February and one in June) didn't scare me away from psychedelics. It was one time out of many. Psychedelics have become a part of my life and who I am. The advice I gave you are tactics that I personally use myself. Be safe and have fun. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to post them in this thread and I will get back to you shortly. Safe travelling.

Peace and Love

I always trip alone. Did the first time aswell, 30g semilanceata. I just cconvinced myself that it was just a mushroom, it could never harm me. Thatv was enough for me. I had a "trip sitter" once. More a spectator really. A good friend of mine, but all he did was trying to freak me out. That did not work even though it was a quite hefty trip, it just annoyed me and dimmed the good vibe a bit. Needless to say, he is not around when I trip anymore.
I believe you'll be fine by yourself if you stay somewhere you feel comfortable. I find it an intimate experience I prefer to undergo in my lonesome. People are different though. Nevertheless, I say go for it, just dont overdo it, could be frightening. Never had a scary trip myself, and I'm not the most experienced shroomer. I have some 30 trips experience. So far

I had a friend back in high school. His first drug experience was LSD, even before alcohol or tobacco. He loved it. He didn't do it solo his first time though. Anyway, he went on to trip several times before he started smoking weed and eventually drinking.
Personally, I prefer to go solo or with my girl. But, mostly solo. Take BigFeely's advice if shit starts to go sideways. Good luck!

Perfect advice. Really appreciate it, Bigfeely!
I'm hoping I won't have to stand up and sing, though! (i'm in an apartment with paper-thin walls!) What's a good dose (for truffles) that would generally offer a more calm experience?

Very cool! Thank you for sharing.
Isn't 30 g a bit extreme for your first time though? How was it?

Unfortunately dosage advice on these forums is against the rules due to liability reasons. Therefore I cannot give you a specific amount that I think would be appropriate for a first timer. Try looking on the website 'erowid' for more information regarding dosage and effects. There are also many trip reports on there as well, so if you wanted to a vague idea for what you're in for you could read those. Nothing you read is comparable to the real thing though. it would just be a vague idea. I'm sure the smartshop that you buy the truffles from would be more than happy to give you some advice. If they don't because of liability reasons then search on the internet. I would be more than happy to answer any more questions or concerns that you have if you still are apprehensive about tripping. I am here to help.

You'll be good man. Just stay positive and know it will be awesome. Intense, but awesome. Definitely start low. I started with like a gram or so. If things get rough, just lie down in the dark, eyes closed, maybe nature sounds in the background, and focus only on your breathing. I prefer to do this every trip coming up and peaking. Jist meditate in darkness, eyes closed lying down. Deep and slow breathing. Start low and you'll be ok. If you're really nervous, it helps to have a spare valium/xanax on hand just in case

Truffles are pretty great, and a smooth way to get introduced into tripping. Start low. The potency will vary for different brands. They'll usually have a marking on how strong or weak they are. I'd probably get the smallest package(I think the smallest they sell is 10 grams) and eating 3/4ths of that.
Be safe. If it's not strong enough, you can always dose again later.

Some good advice in this thread. You should be fine, I've never had a trip sitter
Expect to get pretty out there... START LOW. You can always take more but you can never take less after its down

If you get confused, listen to the music play

I overdid it a bit yes. It was because I did'nt educate myself beforehand.
It was truly life changing. I also remember very litte from it, it was an amazing night with too much to take in for an unprepared mind.
I had some chatlogs from then, and they contained interesting reading. Wish I still had them.
Did you trip yet?
