I heard from someone that fresh mushrooms can be kept in fridge for 7 days after harvesting. Can I just put them in a bowl with some foil over them and they'll stay fresh?

Never done it myself but I've heard they keep well in the fridge. I think even 2-3 weeks!

The temp drop will help fight off mold growing. Just pay attention to them every couple days and you should be fine. If they start to look funny, dry them

You'd be best to store them loosely packed in a paper bag, or lay them out on a paper sheet on the fridge shelf, covered with another sheet of paper, otherwise you'll likley find they'll start to get a bit slimy in a day or two if left covered in a non absorbent vessel. The paper helps wick the moisture away, and keeps them fresher for longer

This, a bowl with foil over it will ruin them. Shame on the rest of you for agreeing and condoning him doing that.

in my own experience they degrade BUT could be a genetic problem from the beginning, and storing em in a plastic bags ruin em i guess foil would ruin em too!

You can store fresh mushrooms in the fridge. I like to take leaves of fresh iceberg lettuce put a few leaves to cover the bottom of a plastic container pile fresh mushrooms on top put on another layer of lettuce leaves and then poke a few holes in the lid for ventilation of the container and put the lid on top. you want to be able to maintain a gas exchange so the mushrooms do not start to rot. Some old hippies at different shows have claimed that the lettuce absorbs the actives out of the mushrooms but I've never seen any proof to back that. Mushroom stay like new for a week when kept like this. Good luck and happy shrooming.
