I just thought I would let everyone know how things are going with me. I am a first time grower and I am about to birth my first BRF cakes tomorrow. I am going to birth a couple of my pint jars and I am going to case a few too. I will keep everyone posted on how things go.

congrats! cujo will be doing his first casing tmrw, so it should be a bid day for newbie mycologists. I hope that yr doing a dunk and roll on those cakes...its easy and yr yields shoot way up!

I started on Thursday and did a second batch on Saturday after seeing mycelium on the first batch. Now I have growth on all. Is it normal to keep checking your jars every 10 min to see if they're completely colonized?
I'm worse than a kid on Christmas morning...

Thats nuthin.
Im starting to accidently write mush instead of much in Msn and me e-mails.
and i start sweating when i think about my horse thats makes enough poo to fill up a box of a pickup in a month.
dumb as shit fat as hell but i love her cuz she poops alot.

Actually I was gonna leave the dunk until the second flush, there is plenty of condensation on the inside of my jars and I am confident moisture levels are high in the cakes. Will field capacity verm stick to an un-dunked cake when rolled? If so, I will still roll, if not, I guess I could still put a layer on the top of the cake.
also, how does one roll without excessive handling and therefor bruising?
any help is appreciated!

Damn, I'm still getting flushes from my first cakes, now
I'm starting a new set of cakes, using the spores I grew.
It's pretty exciting, hope I can maintain the cycle.
I wouldn't worry about bruising the cakes too much, they'll bounce back, pretty tough. I usually scratch mine up between flushes to stimulte them.
I usually dream about shrooms too man, it's hilarious!
Canada does rock!

My weener dog is sort of new at this maybe you guys can help him out. first off can you explain the rolling or scratching of the cakes? He's knows how to dunk and for how long but should he do it after every flush. thanks for the help.

Rolling is taking your freshly dunked cake and rolling it in dry verm. S cratching is a procedure done with a sterile fork, you simply lightly scratch the surface of the cake to promote new growth and yes you should dunk in distilled water between every flush.
