Are men obsolete to society?

Let's face it. We've given equal rights to women maybe 50 years ago and they are on track to surpass us in pretty much every aspect of life.
Right now: - The are more educated - Soon it'll translate into more money - They are the main provider in many household - They are more peaceful/less aggressive - They are smarter than we are - They don't need men anymore
All we are right now is an anchor for their confidence and a dick for their pleasure it seems. Hell they don't even need to have sex to have a baby anymore.
Basically, men are useless at this point. We are holding society back with our endless wars and ego...
Thoughts?

Right now in education you have the situation that the girls are taken as the model student, almost all teachers are women and all boy behaviors are medicated and dealt with as aggressive and problematic.
They can't even play tag because it allegedly rouses their predatorial instincts.
Boys shouldnt be treated as girls gone wrong.

Men aren't obsolete. It's weird, but studies have shown that women are more likely to succeed academically because of "girl power" which is pretty much girls have to do better than boys because girls have been repressed for a lon time prior.
In same sex schools, the grades averaged around to about the exact same between male and female.

skunky budz
Men will never be obsolete. There are still a lot of jobs women are not as good at. Mechanical jobs for example. Also, the trades like construction and electrical are more suited for men. And hard labor jobs.
Women are getting higher up in ranks, i will agree. But certain types of jobs are better for men.
We need each other thou to make the world run right.

that's cus there's no reason a woman can't lol. I disagree with a lot of the common ideas a bout gender roles, but why exactly are we rating genders on their effectiveness? A society run like a business is a shit society to my mind, one I wouldn't want any part in

I know cultural upbringings have a lot to do with it, but its also genetic as well.
Some women are very skilled at mechanical/electrical work, but those women are rare.

That's why I said majority. But there are always gonna be people who don't fall into gender roles.
Also, I don't see why women can't be either a mehcanic or electrician. I think it's because it's pretty much considered a "mans job" and there's not really a bunch of women wanting those jobs too much. I don't see many men really wanting those jobs either.

oh yea
Yeah, its the Natural aptitude of men that makes them better at mechanical/electrical/welding/technical/engineering type jobs.
Woman really good at talking to other people, teaching, singing, dancing, and providing service. Man good at making stuff with bare hands and building things with mind.

there's no fundamental reason why not but women clearly think differently to men. they aren't as analytical or engineering minded as men are, hence they don't tend to go for those jobs. i don't think it has anything to do with the perception of said occupation as a "mans job".

Mad's got a point.
Ive seen female scientists, brilliant ones too, but they are rare. Most often, men fill this position.
But females are filling in the area of science fields, its happening. As for the trades/mechanical field, not too many females for whatever reason. Culturalization maybe. Or maybe they dont like mechanical work
I enjoy it, i think its rewarding

and how does that disprove the cultural element? The role ideas about traditional gender roles plays? I'm sure men are more drawn to that work by a huge margin. But I am unconvinced it has to do with female brains being inept at dealing with logic problems or spatial problems

The thing is, a lot of women can do a mechanical job or hard labor job just as good as a capable man, but people usually don't want to hire a women to do hard physical labor. I think it's natural for our brains to assume a woman to be physically inferior to a man. Not that I think that's a good thing, necessarily.

I concede physical ability is a thing to take pride in. I'm a snob though and to some degree I would always have a chip on my shoulder if my job was in grunt labor. Kinda stupid, but whatever I just think humans ought to aspire to more than being beasts of burden

this is true. Also I should say, I'm not asserting that women are superior to men. I just don't think you can justify a position on either side.

that's fine. you can believe whatever you like, but it's a scientific fact that male and female brains are wired differently. "equal but different", the fact that that point even needs to be harped upon is somewhat baffling to me.

Men are in no way obsolete. As a woman, I believe that men are just as crucial as women to maintaining a healthy, balanced society.
I find men to be just as maternal as women. Men are loyal, have big hearts, and are great doers.
But unfortunately men are being emasculated more and more by women thirsty for revenge. I don't agree with these femi-nazis who think men are rubbish and even worse- dangerous. I think that notion is what's rubbish. This fear driven method of feminism needs to die. Quickly. Men are wonderful creatures, and their voice deserves to be heard just as much. And their bodies and mind need to be praised just as much as a woman's!
Cheers men!

To add to this thread's topic.
Men are natural leaders. This is very important. I am not saying A woman cannot do so but I will argue that men are better at that than women and there are studies to link this. I think this even relates to a point in modern society. Men usually make more precise and direct decisions. They are wired differently and do just that.
A man is far more protective over a female then anything else. This obviously is even more so with a child which is in the female's best interest. A male has a natural intuition to destroy anything that will threaten his offspring compared to anything else.

Do you think this will change over time with the adaptation of needs and the potential integration of female leadership?

I do not at all. Like I said, there are studies to show that men are natural leaders BUT that is before modern era. After looking it up I see that there are also studies to show that men are leaders in modern era. Out of almost all situations I have ever been that involved group decisions, A man spoke up and was recognized. A man became the leader. Can women be leaders? of course.. but most of them cannot be and/or are not as competent and that is where we come into play.
Do women need men for survival now? Absolutely not. However, it is a huge benefit and is actually a better choice for the woman if A man could lead/protect her kids.
I believe the argument that men can do physical labor jobs is incredibly true. Well... its actually obvious honestly. I have worked construction myself. It is very sad though to think that is what we are better at. Those are brainless jobs that use muscle/skill and that is it.
A female is dirty minded sex crazed. Not all, but MOST love the penis. I have seen this time and time again. I have seen many girls who claim to be "bi" choose a dick over a vagina for obvious reasons overall. They in a sense want to have the best choice of man to give them a baby. Of course they could just do artificial insemination but the dick is a fucking tool to women. The amount of hormones that goes through sex and orgasm because of sex is beyond anything else they can achieve. They love that shit and probably would not want to do without. That is my last ditch argument god damnit.

What about single moms? I was raised by a single mom and she gave me a grea childhood. Would we have been better off with another person to help out the family? Sure, of course. But I don't think it has to do with it being a man or a woman, it has to do with the money the make, the time the have, and how capable they are at caring for children.Quote:
The Ecstatic said: Women would die off because they can't cultivate food and they can't open the jars of the nonperishable stuff.
C'mon weren't woman traditionally gatherers? The jar thing was cute though. I agree that men are traditionally leaders but let's not forget that women have been more or less oppressed for most of history. 70 years ago no one would've ever dreamed of a woman President, yet we very well may have one soon. Granted, not one who serves the best example for female capability, but a woman leader none the less. I'm saying, maybe men are always seen as good leaders because woman have never really had much of a chance to lead. However, this may have caused woman to be genetically predisposed to follow and be sycophant. I remain neutral I guess

I don't seriously believe that, but pointing out a bunch of female lemmings following an admittedly shit candidate on the sole basis of her gender doesn't lend credence to your argument.

Didn't read the thread, but I find it interesting you think women are more peaceful then men. Most women I know don't even like other women because they are so scandalously backstabbing, caddy, and ruthless. Men never have the drama that women constantly create and dare I say thrive on? Not sure I've fought once with my male room mate, if I was living with a woman right now it would probably be living hell.
Seriously, theres some science behind it too. Something about the constant need to degrade other females to make sure their fetuses are seen as the most desirable in the race for the best genetics.

If its just the culture we live in, how come men didn't pick up these traits in large and almost all women possess them? It's biological man. Most things in life have nature as a driving force. There is peer reviewed studies on the subject, you should read up on them you might find it enlightening.

Men typically pay for dinner on dates and have shorter hair, doesn't mean it's biological or genetic.

Not only that, women don't like following orders from other women, they become resentful and jealous.
Males can establish a pecking order and respect it, women don't have that ability unless men are involved.

Take a long look at this picture. You sure your mom did such a great job?

Most things in life have nature as a driving force. There is peer reviewed studies on the subject, you should read up on them you might find it enlightening.
Men typically pay for dinner on dates and have shorter hair, doesn't mean it's biological or genetic.
Actually, there is definitely biology at play with the hair. I'm sure biological links can be made about the buying of dinner. Hell, its no different then men being hunters in a society. Just now we buy dinner instead of going on a hunt.
Biology plays a huge roll in the shaping of everyday life. Mostly all of this is completely subconscious; however, realize its there. Im convinced men would all live in card board boxes if woman weren't around. Sigmond Freud argued sex/woman are the main driving force in life. I tend to agree.

I think rather that gender is becoming an obsolete notion.
People have differing sexual parts that match up in ways that allow for reproduction, but the kind of personality they have is becoming increasingly less correlated to the kind of sexual parts they have as we progress. This is not to say that everyone is becoming androgynous. Some men are have what used to be considered feminine qualities, but they are still sexually attracted to women. Some women have what used to be considered masculine qualities, but they are still sexually attracted to men. And everywhere in between.

Obsolete?
Men have dominated society for millennia, if anything theres a slight trend towards true equality but thats it. Pound for pound we contribute more to society, earn more, have more ambition, even have a greater effect on the rearing of children then the mothers. Nothings gonna change anytime soon.

Number one is the way women instinctively compete against eachother. Men dont do that. We very rarely actively try to snub other men out of positions or relationships. Women do it all the time. Even when it comes to something as basic as getting laid, men will always cheer eachother on, women more often then not slut shame eachother into virtual abstinence. We arnt about to leave our position anytime soon.

All we are right now is an anchor for their confidence and a dick for their pleasure it seems. Hell they don't even need to have sex to have a baby anymore.
Basically, men are useless at this point. We are holding society back with our endless wars and ego...

While I agree somewhat I do see men bad mouth each other. Like at work for instance there is one girl we all work with. We both go to the gym and take pride in our bodies. The second we start talking about that kind of shit one of the other dudes has to butt in with "meat head" "you want nothing to do with muscular guys *girl* theyre all the same, jackasses" "oh those guys work out all the time to over compensate for small cock" The ones saying this kind of shit are scrawny/small. So I'd have to say certain males do try to shame others in getting an upper hand on getting a woman. It's whatever though as long as she keeps biting that lower lip at me.

I don't think so, the fact that many young men from this current generation has decided to embrace feminization doesn't mean that's going to be lasting much longer.
Acting like a metro-sexual male is stupid as hell.
Talk to kids. The idea of "acting like a metrosexual" doesn't even register to them. Most of them don't even know what it means. And nobody says to themselves, "I am going to start 'acting like a metrosexual'". Men just do what they think women want them to do. Most women these days WANT men to be clean and well-dressed, and the idea that becoming clean and well-dressed because women prefer it somehow makes you "less of a man" or "less straight" or anything of the sort is absurd.
The situation I see in society right now is basically this: For hundreds of thousands of years, we were hunter-gatherers. For the most part, men were hunters, and women were gatherers. The men didn't do a lot of talking while they hunted- they practiced their aim at throwing spears and so forth- but the women did do a lot of talking while they hunted. As a result of this, evolution has selected for male brains that are comparatively high in spatiotemporal intelligence, and female brains that are comparatively high in verbal intelligence.
For much of history, spatiotemporal intelligence remained a vital social asset: men built and maintained household goods, and were often involved in craftsmanship. However, in the recent past, the need for spatiotemporal intelligence has been reduced by the use of machines, factories, and the industrial complex and in the very recent past, even more so by computers and automated robots.
At the same time, the increasing amount of information has corresponded to the increased use of verbal intelligence. Today's intellectual achievements are largely measured in the amount of information one can memorize, mentally organize, and reproduce on command, in response to the appropriate social cues. Women suddenly feel that the kind of intelligence they possess is of value to our society. Two interesting tidbits: The first recorded author to sign their name on what they wrote, attributing it to themselves (that we know of) was a woman. In fact, early non-business-related writing appears to have been dominated by females, mostly writing spiritually-themed poetry. Though computer programming is dominated by men, this is a result of a cultural narrative we are told, and not because men are better programmers. The first computer algorithm was written by Ada Lovelace for the Difference Engine in the 1800s, and early computer programming was dominated by women.
So it isn't just that men feel emasculated by women who are more intelligent than they are. The larger problem that men as a group are losing their sense of purpose and they don't know what it means or who to blame. This can manifests egomaniacs with inferiority complexes. Elliot Rodger, the "Supreme Gentleman", is an extreme example.
Obviously these are generalizations. I myself happen to defy the statistical norms. My verbal tests scores are extremely high but I am horribly unathletic and not very good at math (quantitative reasoning is more strongly correlated with spatiotemporal intelligence than verbal intelligence). Furthermore, the dichotomy between spatiotemporal and verbal intelligence is of course not actually clear-cut in terms of brain physiology. But these generalizations nevertheless describe the present situation to a reasonably accurate degree.
