Also, I don't see why women can't be either a mehcanic or electrician. I think it's because it's pretty much considered a "mans job" and there's not really a bunch of women wanting those jobs too much. I don't see many men really wanting those jobs either.
there's no fundamental reason why not but women clearly think differently to men. they aren't as analytical or engineering minded as men are, hence they don't tend to go for those jobs. i don't think it has anything to do with the perception of said occupation as a "mans job".

that is old-school stereotyping. Do you have evidence for this? It's certainly not fitting my experience.

Mad's got a point.
Ive seen female scientists, brilliant ones too, but they are rare. Most often, men fill this position.
But females are filling in the area of science fields, its happening. As for the trades/mechanical field, not too many females for whatever reason. Culturalization maybe. Or maybe they dont like mechanical work
I enjoy it, i think its rewarding

and how does that disprove the cultural element? The role ideas about traditional gender roles plays? I'm sure men are more drawn to that work by a huge margin. But I am unconvinced it has to do with female brains being inept at dealing with logic problems or spatial problems

The thing is, a lot of women can do a mechanical job or hard labor job just as good as a capable man, but people usually don't want to hire a women to do hard physical labor. I think it's natural for our brains to assume a woman to be physically inferior to a man. Not that I think that's a good thing, necessarily.

Obviously chaos since that would be 1/2 the population, virtually every world leader.

Well the world would most likely fall into some sort of crisis. As that's half the population, just gone.

Men are physically better suited to grunt labor. But is that really a distinction to take pride in?

I concede physical ability is a thing to take pride in. I'm a snob though and to some degree I would always have a chip on my shoulder if my job was in grunt labor. Kinda stupid, but whatever I just think humans ought to aspire to more than being beasts of burden

this is true. Also I should say, I'm not asserting that women are superior to men. I just don't think you can justify a position on either side.

that's fine. you can believe whatever you like, but it's a scientific fact that male and female brains are wired differently. "equal but different", the fact that that point even needs to be harped upon is somewhat baffling to me.

Essentially, except for the emotional aspect of it, nobody in this thread managed to make men seem useful. There's nothing w can do that women can't do either.
