Obviously not if he used beer bottles. Why would you have to break em? You can just case.

use grain, it will come out semi-easy once shook and broke up. it seems like a really impratical/waste of time to me though and would just make every step more difficult/time consuming. if your that cheap go to a flea market and get like 30 8oz drinking glasses for like $3 or break down and buy 12 quarts for $8 whole dollars and do grain

If I was gonna do this....

I would load a clean bottle, and seal the top with Tyvec and a rubber band. PC and grow like a PF jar. Fruiting would be accomplished by taking off the tyvec and putting the whole bottle in a terrarium. If you use a clear bottle you should cover the sides in tape or foil so light does not trigger fruiting execpt on top.

but jars are cheap and convenient so use bottles?

It would just be cool and it would be easier to give them to your friends etc. Maybe you could grow them in a warm room without a terrarium ? Would only grain or WBS as a substrate also work ?

guess it would be better not to fill all the bottle. there would be more air inside and much easier to shake up the substrate.

you wouldnt be able to aim the spores, so fill it up with substrate.

dont put any dark tape on it as the whole point is to have shrooms growing against the glass to look purty until they rot or you bust the bottle open.

yes millet flour will work, substitue it at a 1:1 ratio as the brf its replacing.

no, you cant shake this substrate.

do it identical to the pf tek. just substitute the millet flour and bottles. ive never done it, but that is how you would do it.

Olde English is not my brew of choice but to each his own. Just seems like it would be a waste of time and resources. Good luck to you on your first grow though.

Somewhere on another board there was a tek ( with pictures ) on how to grow cubes in a bottle. But I cannot find it anymore. Think it was on mycotopia but I am not sure.
