The house I grew up in was haunted

I wish I had a picture; its a really creepy-looking, dilapidated old mansion. My parents were going to fix it up, but their marriage didnt survive that long. I lived there till I was about 5 or 6, but I remember it quite vividly.
There was an office upstairs, right above the living room. Often times when we were watching TV, we could hear footsteps and shuffling noises up there. Several times, we would go up there and the furninture would be re-arranged, inexplicably.
We later found out that the stockbroker who owned the house before us killed himself in that room, after he went broke.

The house my mother grew up in around Detroit was also haunted. She and all of her three sisters and parents heard footsteps going up and down the stairs when everybody was downstairs and nobody upstairs at all...and there was a lightbulb in the kitchen or one of the rooms, that they always left on, for years...and years....and years....and years....and NEVER burnt out. EVER. Whether or not it's ghost-related, I dunno, but that's freaky. Just a regular ol' run of the mill light bulb. It would be absolutely terrifying to me if I suddenly heard uber-thundering-LOUD heavy footsteps coming up the stairs REALLY fast, like climbing the whole stairway in only 5 pounding steps, and then hearing the steps come closer to your room with each step, really fuckin fast, and by that time you're already looking at the door in suspense and fear and then BOOM! the Door comes flying open 100 miles an hour, you feel the gush of wind...and you feel the "energy"...and then vrooooosh. It's gone.

It was on Hermosa Ln. on the money side of White Rock Lake. Back when there was a money side of White Rock Lake. Government projects changed that I don't know if it still stands or not.
The problem seemed contained to that room, although I was terrified of the basement, mainly because of the furnace down there which made a lot of noise and looked real creepy. My parents are not the type of people to believe in ghosts (Mom is a hardcore Christian and Dad is a left-brained lawyer), but they both insist the house was haunted. I know what I remember, too. Footsteps and heavy scraping and shuffling noises in an unoccupied room with no windows. My Dad stopped letting me go in there after awhile. But I remember going up there at least once and the furniture was rearranged, and my parents have recently confirmed that the same shit happened to them.
Oh, also the disturbances always seemed to happen in the early evening, like 7 PM or so. Prime Time. Never checked it out but I bet dude killed himself around that time. Sometimes on weekends there would be mild footstep disturbances at 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

Sounds more like he was an interior decorator.

My physics teacher once said that all ghostly activity was due to thermodynamics, but I'm not sure if he just meant creaks and stuff like that.
