How can I quit dipping?
#22400088 - 10/18/15 08:29 PM (8 years, 3 months ago) |

I started dipping to quit smoking, and it has become a problem of its own. I dip a can of cope straight or original everyday or two. Nicotine replacement seems to do jack shit for me.
I've been considering buying a vape but never got around to buying a vape, though I'm seriously considering it at this point. Cancer really scares the fuck out of me and my jaws been feeling stiff a lot lately.
Anyone halp?

Dipping is like chewing tobacco that you dont chew. I went cold turkey for two weeks once but was craving a dip the entire time. I dont want to crave dip for the rest of my life lol.

Don't have any tips but my dad had like 1/3 of his jaw removed due to cancer mainly attributed to chew. He looks really fucked up now so if vaping helps its worth a try.

Yeah man fuck that. I dont want to lose my jaw. But cancer seems like such a distant thing that I always tell myself I'll quit after this log (5 can roll), but never actually do it...

If you are really serous about it then look into ibogaine? It has a reputation for helping people get over addiction

Yeah, I've definitely heard of it. I'd rather use every possible resource available to attempt to quit before I use it though.
Fuck man, I'm torn. I want to keep dipping, I really enjoy it. But in the back of my mind I know it will kill me. I would use ibogaine, but it seems hard to get and unsafe without proper supervision.
But I'm 100 percent promising myself tomorrow I'm gunna throw out my remaining 2 cans, go buy some patches, a new vape and move on with my life.

How much time, effort and money are you willing to put into a vape?
They can easily knock you on your ass even if you have a super high nic tolerance I assure you
But you gotta get a good powerful one, the cheap ones are garbage
The powerful ones cost a good amount of money and require some practice to learn how to use, but IMO there is no better nicotine delivery device than a vaporizer once your lungs get used to the sensation

I'd say the most is like 200 hundred dollars. Im pretty serious about quitting. And as much effort as needed.
Im gunna go buy a cheap one at my local vape store tomorrow just for nicotine until my good vape arrives, because im gonna order a good vape with a box mod online tomorrow.
Ive vaped before but it was off my friends shitty vape with low nicotine

Alright well if you're willing to spend like 300 total I wrote up a comprehensive vape setup guide a while back
I'll :privatemessage: it to you cause it's really long but trust me spending a bit more and getting the full package would definitely be worth it for you in the long run
I know it costs a lot but really it's an investment, I'd say it costs me like >$5 a week to run my vape and I used to spend like $40 a week when I smoked cigs

Keep in mind that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to vape equipment, there's hundreds of products to choose from but I've been vaping for almost a year now and that setup would be perfect both to start on and to practice with

Thanks a lot. 100 dollars extra wont be that big of a deal. Hell, I may even start vaping for fun once I quit dipping.

Yeah it sucks. Out of all the drugs I've used, and after breaking my addiction to speed, who would of guessed tobacco would of been the one I'm unable to give up.
Its an awful feeling man. Nicotine is way more addictive than anything I've ever used. Not at first, but after a few years it seems completely impossible to ever give up.

But the thing most people don't know is that nicotine itself in small doses is physically harmless
This has been confirmed by extensive scientific trials on monkeys and rats, I'd hunt for the links but I have to go to bed soon
But yah vaping is the shit

Yeah I've heard its not the nicotine that actually causes cancer but all the other shit in tobacco.

Truth is they don't exactly know what the hell it is in tobacco that causes cancer, it must be one or several of the thousands of chemicals contained in tobacco

Dipping is significantly better than smoking so you did good there. Something I did to quit smoking is to commit to buying individual packs instead of cartons. So you could try buying individual cans instead of whole logs at a time. It will make it more annoying for you to have to go to the store every time you want dip. So youll eventually have nights where you'll be tired and you wont feel like going to the store to get some dip. And viola, you just went a night without dipping.

I have absolutely no clue how healthy this is, but I've got friends who buy 100% VG Mint E-liquid at 6mg/ml. And instead of vaping it, they drip it along their gum line and let it absorb through that ROA. They swear that this helped them quick chewing tobacco. Might be worth a try

I tried quitting dip and snus (snus is high quality swedish dip) and using kratom is what helped the most. in addition I guess vaping would help. meditation and yoga helped me a lot with the fixation of a lot of my addictions, but I would say kratom is the big one

Normally eliquid tastes nasty but the 100% VG stuff really isn't that bad, its much better the PG based liquids. And with a bit of minr, it just tastes like bitter minty gum. But these guys were addicted as fuck and it really did help them. Also, VG, mint flavor, and nicotine are all much less damaging to the mouth than actual dip. Could be worth it, figured I'd share

Think of the money you'll save and the health you'll safe and how you'll feel better too and be more of a free person. I quit smoking 50 minutes ago and already feel GREAT.

He's already far too over the edge it seems. Once he's out for a day, he'll probably shove a few extra cans in to make up for it.
So, dip is at least 5x harder to kick than cigarettes. I wouldn't cold turkey it at all. The withdrawals will leave you up at night sweating with insomnia. Instead, devote an entire month to using very little and cutting back. Know your portions inside the cans and stick with it. Or use pouches. Those are easier to keep track of.

Bloodwhip not to sound negative but fuckin man up and just stop. Make the decision and stick to it. Realize that you WANT to quit and do it. It is hard and it does suck, so what? Ain't gonna kill ya. But not quitting might some day.
The decision to quit cannot be a one time thing if it's a decisive action every single time there is a craving.
