You skipped the boiling step? That would have gotten the grains to maximum moisture content and your grains wouldn't have come out soo dry. Do you have any pics?

Oh shit, yes I boiled 10min. Then drained for 2h and loaded in jars. Didn't have time to PC immediately, so they stayed at a closet for 24-28h, then PCed. No pics right now. I little bit later I will be home and take some.

Actually I don't boil for exactly 10min. I rely on my eyes. I know they are ready, when I approximately 4-5/150 grains pop. After drying I get a couple in my hand and squeeze them, then eat a couple. If its nice soft and humid from inside, I consider it well soaked.

That's a good method to use.
Maybe the drying of the grains is a GE related issue. How'd you make your lids?

1/4" hole in the middle, stuff foly fill. PC with lids upside down, when I inoculate i turn them back to normal.

See the thing with polyfill is that if it isn't stuffed correctly, then it can lead to GE problems. I personally think it's a poor choice for a filter either way, I save poly for my tubs only. I've been using SFD's for all my jars and I've had 0 problems soo far.
And flipping the lids is an unnecessary step. It won't make much of a difference.

Yeah I know. I just have less than 2months now to try my first grow. (I have to go away for a month after that). I didn't have time to wait for the SFD's to arrive, so I risked it with poly fill.

Damn. Patience is one of my weakest sides lol. 48h since inoculation, 70-73F, decent light at least 6h a day, and not even a single mycelium popping, and that drives me nuts, i check the jars every hour or so haha

As I was getting some jars out of the PC the other day I realised I had completely forgotten to put the inner part of my lids on any jars. They were all just tyvek stretched over the jar mouth and screwed down with the outer part of the lid. Doh.
They all still collonised fine. Each jar basically open save for a bit of tyvek.
Although they were inoculated with agar wedges.

If I see that I forgot something like that, I'll just freak out, cursing and breaking everything around me. I had some water on my lids after inoculation (because I flipped them back to normal and there was condensation from the jar), I decided to wipe it with a piece of paper towel and one of my poly fills popped out, the jar was exposed to contamination out of the SAB and the sanitized room. I almost cried lol

After boiling I only drain my grains until they stop steaming. But in any case, I've had grains that look drier than yours work just fine.
As Psilosoulful said, just give it time.

Your grains should be dry on the outside...the moisture you need is on the inside.

Just strain it and let it sit on a window screen to air dry for 15-30 minutes. The hot exterior of the grains will speed up the drying process, so don't rinse after straining.
Then do the toilet paper test. If the grains do not stick to the toilet paper after thirty seconds and don't leave a wet spot, they're good to load up into your jars!

Well tbh i already knew that because I did it for 20h period, but now my sterilizing was delayed with 48h (I do this secretly from 3 more people in the house), so I use every time window, do to step by step. I just wanted to be sure. Im doing only 1 jar - a big one, just to practice the inoculation and try a different spot.
