Ps. Cyanescens ID?
    #22395621 - 10/17/15 10:03 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:  Growing on mulch/woodchips in a landscaped area by ferns and other types of foliage

Gills: Tan with a dark purple/brown color inbetween the gills.

Stem:  white to off white.  Thick and fiberous.  Displays blue bruising.

Cap: Mature specimens have a Opened and wavy cap.  younger specimens are cone shaped to saucer flat.  Pins are closed cap or open with a veil and bruise heavily.  caramel color mostly with older specimins sometimes having a tan center.  mature caps might be a 50 cent peice size or so.

Spore print color:  Spore prints on the mushrooms looks purple brown.  Failed to print a thick one, but the light print I took also looked purple brown.

Bruising: Most certainly Bruise blue.

This is my best find yet, just want to be sure.

Does this count as a spore print enough?

Thanks.

Yes congrats . You've found yourself some great looking cyanescens. Next time you go back to pick bring some scissors and cut at the base of the mushrooms, that way you'll help keep the mycelial network connected and healthy providing flushes for the future .

If you want you can take those stem butts and throw them on some soaked cardboard, in time they will colonize and you can transfer over to some wood chips to start a patch of your own

Have fun man and be safe

Peace

Hey thanks!

Actually thats exactly what I was doing.  Used scissors except that cluster in order to cultivate.

Have this pic as proof.  From the same session.

I didnt even take that many, compared to how many I found!

Certainly excited about this find.  in the works of making a tincture out of what I got that day.

It's not that big a deal if you aren't harvesting many anyway, but those specimens in your last picture are way immature. Let them develop so that they can send there spores out into the world!
Welcome to the Shroomery in case nobody else ha said it.

Hey thanks, nobody has given me the official welcome yet.

I certainly try to strategize not taking too many to let em mature and help the patch.  Also, that way I can justify myself picking the ones I do at my preferred size for consumption( which isnt pins trust me)
