Actually a woman named Ellen White has probabljust as much to do with clean water and modern cleanliness practices as our government. Read up on her, and the seventh day Adventists, much more influential in the hygienic practices of everyday folk than the government which has simply proclaimed that to supply towns with water you dump bacteria killing chemicals in the town well.

This is awesome.

Cops should stay out of politics, especially since their organizations are so fucking corrupt. Their job is enforcing the laws, not lobbying for or against them. Law enforcement is also the number one opponent to drug legalization.
It's extremely inappropriate for cops, in their official capacity, to make public statements about the laws they have sworn to uphold.

isnt politics corrupt?
are you aware that the sheriff is an elected position? so yeah, they're in politics and you can just lump it. I should go ahead and inform LEAP that you dont want their help with repealing the marijuana laws they've been lobbying against, you know, since they should stay out of politics since they're all so corrupt and shit

Yeah, the sheriff took an oath to enforce the laws. He shouldn't be making comments about them.

Well, Pris misrepresented what that article said. It's not the sheriff of Los angles. It's other sheriffs. They should mind their own business. If they need to carry their weapons with them, then they don't have to go to Los Angeles. If they take their weapons to LA, they are criminals. I mean they generally are already. I'm sure the cops in LA will look the other way. You know. Wink. Wink.

Hey koodsie, I bet this frosts your cookies...
Quote:
Snyder’s killing, as documented in interviews and police reports, is among the 800 fatal shootings by police so far this year. As the tally continues to grow, so does public debate and criticism over police use of deadly force.
But only a small number of the shootings — roughly 5 percent — occurred under the kind of circumstances that raise doubt and draw public outcry, according to an analysis by The Washington Post. The vast majority of individuals shot and killed by police officers were, like Snyder, armed with guns and killed after attacking police officers or civilians or making other direct threats.
Quote:
In 74 percent of all fatal police shootings, the individuals had already fired shots, brandished a gun or attacked a person with a weapon or their bare hands, according to an analysis of actions immediately preceding the shootings, which draws on reports from law enforcement agencies and local media coverage. These 595 cases include fatal shootings that followed a wide range of violent crimes, including shootouts, stabbings, hostage situations, carjackings and assaults.
Another 16 percent of the shootings came after incidents that did not involve firearms or active attacks but featured other potentially dangerous threats. These shootings were most commonly of individuals who brandished knives and refused to drop them.

The 2nd amendment is the law fwend.
The second amendment doesn't cover the weapons banned by LA. The Supreme Court has made it clear that "unusually dangerous weapons" are not covered by the second amendment. There was just a decision last week ruling that bans on semiautomatic assault weapons and high capacity magazines are constitutional.
You can protest all you want about what you think the second amendment allows, but yours isn't the opinion that matters. It is up to the courts and they say you are wrong.

In all likelihood, the Supreme's will undo that.

Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. Are you not familiar with the hatch act?
Quote:
It is impermissible to: • Allow one’s name or likeness to be used in campaign literature in the police officer’s professional capacity; • Host a fundraiser for a political candidate and recruit attendees using the officer’s official title (however, a spouse who is not covered under this Act may host such a fundraiser and the officer may attend, but may not personally solicit contributions to the fundraiser); • Allow the officer’s name to appear on an invitation to a fundraiser as a sponsor of the fundraiser or as a point of contact for the fundraiser; • Engage in campaigning during working hours; • Use any official authority for influence for political purposes, including using the officer’s official title or authority to coerce individuals to participate in political activity; • Run for any elected partisan office; • Solicit, accept, or receive uncompensated individual volunteer services from a subordinate for any political purpose.

What a strawman. You have a constitutional right to own a hand gun. You do not have the right to own a machine gun.
