The percentage of gun owners who just want to look cool are the idiots.
Carry concealed, if you're smart. Nothing wrong with open carry, but I feel it puts you on the radar and I for one like to fly under the radar.

Open carry would be okay if it was utilitarian, but most of the people that open carry seem to be trolling for attention so they can give a "you can't take my guns away" speach to a police officer and post it on youtube or some shit. Running around with AK's and tactical vests, or carrying a glock 17 and 3 mags. That basically says: a) you're carrying a weapon for offense not defense b) you think black people and zombies are the same c) you're a black guy and you need to stop the police from murdering you
If they were carrying a small 9mm or something it would be much easier to look at them and think "this dude isn't a nut"

Man, I support carry and support the 2nd and still think the NRA is crazy. That's quite suprising.

Nah, the media blows peoples stance on firearms way out of proportion.

I've never seen anyone walking around with a shouldered Ar or Ak or something along the lines. Just looking for trouble. Those people piss me off. They don't scare me or make me uncomfortable they just make responsible gun owners look bad and represent a very very small percentile of us responsible gun owners.
If I ever do see someone open carrying it usually is a typical hand gun, 1911 for example.
My state is very lax on gun laws so I suspect most gun owners here conceal carry since I rarely see open carry.

My golden sunny homeworld banned open carry, probably because of tools swinging around AR's. Not really sure what the status of concealed carry is here. When I have money to make it a relevant question I'll research it.

I want Open Carry in Florida for the sole purpose that if for some reason someone were to spot my concealed weapon (No one has-ever), I would not face legal trouble.

do people in close-carry states have to wear long coats or something to conceal their weapons?
LOL all because it makes people feel like open-carry promotes a look of the wild west.

I am shocked how many people conceal carry, i did it onece but even with a compact 9mm it was a pain in the ass, seems like everyone doing it must be using a subcompact or something

I use to be really into target practice as a kid but given the current climate of affairs I can't even get .22 lr.
Shit is getting way too expensive as well, I don't know how some people keep up with shooting regularly.
I can only imagine bullets are going to continue going up in price and being a rarity;
Looks like target practice will soon be a thing of the past.
It's pretty depressing actually.

It is quite simple, to me. People should be allowed to have the guns that are appropriate to use for self-defense. AR-15s, Uzis and rocket launchers aren't necessary for self-defense.

An ar 15 carbine is one of the most practical self/home defense weapons. It fits the role better than any shotgun or hunting rifle. Regulating what guns people can have based on what is "necessary" is straight up infringement, which the 2nd ammendment prohibits.
Why do you feel I should be forced to use a gun that is less practical in a potentially life or death situation?
Why do you think ar-15's should be banned?
Why do you feel it is okay to violate the constitution because you deem something protected by it as not "necessary"?

No, it isn't. You can't put it in your pants, or in a holster, concealed. Therefore it is impractical. You can easily stop an attacker in public or at home with a pistol or a shotgun. If someone in public happens to have an automatic rifle, it's not like you're gonna be carrying your AR around with you anyway. A pistol will do. I don't care if it is infringement. Infringe the shit out of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution for all I care. The Constitution endorses slavery. Those documents are dated as fuck and we have every right to re-evaluate whether or not certain parts of them are still practical.

Generally to defend your home or land you don't need to be able to fit something in your pants.
Why do you think ar-15's are so evil? What about them warrants them being banned?

No, but to defend your home a shotgun is perfectly suitable if you want something larger than a pistol. But a pistol will do just fine. What do you think is going to happen, someone is going to break into your head with their own AR15s blazing?

I assume you mean home?
I don't think anything is going to happen but it is not uncommon for home invasions to be commited by multiple armed people. Happened to a friend's neighbor actually.
Sure a pistol or shotgun is more than adequate in most cases, but I would rather not be told I can't choose a better fit weapon for the intended purpose because some ignorant liberal that knows jack shit about guns thinks the one I want is evil because it looks scary.
We might as well only let the police use shotguns and pistols... because well... anything more than that isn't neccessary, right?
