I'm not a communist, and I don't support communism.  But why does your side always feel the need to lie about everything?  I can agree that communism isn't the best system, but unemployment in the Soviet Union was 0%, and you seem to be living in a fantasy world by denying that.

Of course, all, even if you were young or old-sick or dying, needed to work to support the government political class in the Soviet Union.

How did that work out for them, Commie? You support socialism right? Both ideologies are part of the "GIBSMEDAT" mentality that you enjoy so thoroughly

I just asked why you feel the need to lie about everything, and what do you do?  Make up another lie.

The retirement age in the Soviet Union was 60 for males, and 55 for females.  A lot younger than in the US.  :shake:

After all this time debating me, do you really think I'd post something that can't be backed up?  Here you go, since you're Google illiterate:

First of all, that's another made up straw man, as I DON'T support the "GIBSMEDAT" mentality.

Secondly, it worked out fine for everyone except those at the top.  They were eager to leave communism for capitalism, as they became instant billionaires when that happened, and Government owned industry was gifted to the top communist officials.

Yes you support the GIBSMEDAT mentality because you're a progressive right? What political ideology do you claim to represent?

No, communism didn't work out for anyone, obviously, because it was abolished. LOL so who benefits from Communism? You just said people benefitted from the FALL OF COMMUNISM.

Poor guy, I kick your ass at debate over and over and over... It's getting really old. Have any good points? Guess not

WRONG!  :facepalm3:

Progressives support the mentality that if someone makes a lot of money for a company, he deserves a fair share of that money, not the minimum the company can get away with.

One reason communism was abolished is because it was done in a way that made the leadership instant billionaires.  Another reason is because people were growing tired of the cold war.

burgerbrain said:

Soviet leadership benefitted from capitalism, the workers benefitted from communism.  As I pointed out, everyone got a living wage, everyone got housing, everyone got to retire by age 60, and everyone was guaranteed 30 days of paid vacation per year.

i don't think he does, i think he was just making a point that your bias doesn't always support actual facts. petty, i know, but when in Rome, you do as the Romans do.

Thank you akira_akuma!  You are exactly right.  This was another straw man.

I find it mind boggling how deep in make believe land hostileuniverse is with all his straw man arguments.  He refuses to accept that liberals aren't the dummies of his fantasies.  Instead of arguing with what people on these boards are telling him, he argues with imaginary straw man opponents.

And yes HU, the Soviets enjoyed four decades of relative success.  What finally killed them was the escalating cold war.  They had to put put far too many resources into their military, which in a communist country only sucks resources from areas that could have made people's lives better.  And as I already mentioned, the elite became instant billionaires when Russia turned capitalist, so they didn't object either.

So give all resources to govt and they will dole them out as they see fit? Isn't that a little like giving majority of wealth to 1% and begging for crumbs? Now WHERE have I heard that before?
