Good spores gone Bad!
    #22389587 - 10/16/15 05:44 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

so,I got 4 spore syringes about 10 months ago. I used 3 of them pretty quickly but my PE syringe I wanted to save until I had a bit more experience (this was my first time buying spores). the 3 that I used were totally viable. I kept the PE syringe in a rubbermaid container in the fridge. I just tried to use them with cakes and nothing. so, I tried to make an LC and nothing. I just got some other syringes and made LC's  that are just fine but no go on the PE. I've read over and over here that keeping them in the fridge is the way to store them (dark and cool).
Anyone have any other Ideas as to why they didn't last or is it just a luck of the draw thing?

You're breaking a rule by implicating a vendor in illegal activity of yours.  Remove the name so a mod doesn't have to.

Also, I would try the spores on agar, if it were me. Also, PE doesn't do spectacularly well on cakes so all that experience you waited to have wouldn't have amounted to much unless you're REALLY good at cakes.  Spores to LC is also a bad idea.  Spores to agar to LC is significantly more reliable.

Sorry about posting the vendor name.I know pe doesn't do awesome on cakes which is why I wanted some experience. I don't really have the means to do agar and I have good success with lc's. So, thanks for not even addressing my question and giving nothing but attitude and ego. I knew I shouldn't have even bothered posting here.

Yeah with that temper and ego you better run. It's called advice. No need to get your panties in a knot. He didn't question your manliness or call you a faggot.

Oh the ol "thanks for nothing" huh?  What do you want me to tell you dude?  Your spores didn't work.  I told you to put them to agar.  I told you spores to LC is a bad idea. I TRIED to hint you toward doing bulk so you can have good results.  What the fuck more do you want?  Don't come to me talking about attitude and ego when this is how you take advice.  How delicate you are to information you don't like is a good indication of how much control your ego has over your actions.

Lol. Well he can't actually do the next steps I'd take anyways. Agar's the SHITTT. There's the agar sandwich tek, where you pour hot agar over the spores to help soften the walls. There's forced hydration.. Which he actually could do, but I don't see how spores in a syringe for 10 months wouldn't be hydrated. There's charcoal agar, and as a last resort there's snake venom agar.

Just agar lol. Then the hot pour/sandwich. Then forced hydration, then charcoal. Then rage and toss. That's what happened to my tampanensis that wouldn't do shit. luckily I got mexicana from nobody lol

Gotcha, I thought you were naming off things he could do instead of your super secret technique.  Those are all good, I hear the hot pour does the trick usually before you have to resort to any of that other shit.  I've actually not had this problem yet somehow.

Everyone has the means to do agar though, and if you truly don't for some uncontrollable reason like AC that can't be shut off,(I think I heard that one recently) then you might just have to get more spores.

Only ever had it on my tampanensis. I'm not sure why. It's the only spores I've had to try all those things with ever, and failed too haha. I'm guessing old, badly stored spores. It was pretty upsetting actually because I really wanted to see them. Still do actually. Luck of the draw I guess.

I hope OP comes back and is chilled out.  This is generally the part where they either do that, or melt at everybody until the ban.  The latter is funny but the former is really the more mature preference.

lol! actually immediately after posting I thought "dude, you may have just overreacted". I just got a little bent that my question wasn't addressed. And yeah "my spores didn't work". I just thought maybe someone could give me some insight as to why and actually a member did kindly messaged me and explain that they may be germinating in the syringe.I still don't know what might cause that but "hey" that's somethin.

Germinating in the syringe? Then they'd have taken off much quicker than normal.. It's normal for old spores to become inviable. But there's ways to try to force them to be viable. As stated before.
